Removal





INSTRUMENT PANEL: INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD: REMOVAL

1. TABLE OF BOLT, SCREW AND NUT

HINT
All bolts, screws and nuts relevant to installing and removing the instrument panel are shown along with their alphabet code in the table below.





2. REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER RH Removal

3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

(a) Disable the AUTO TILT AWAY function by changing the customize parameter Repair Instruction - Customize Parameters.

NOTICE:
Record the current customize parameter setting (whether the AUTO TILT AWAY function is enabled or disabled) in order to restore the current setting after finishing the operation.

HINT
Performing the above operation causes the AUTO TILT AWAY function to be disabled when the engine switch is turned off.

(b) Turn the engine switch on (IG). Operate the tilt and telescopic switch to fully extend and lower the steering column.

(c) Turn the engine switch off and disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

NOTICE:
* w/ Navigation System (for HDD):
After the engine switch is turned off, the display and navigation module display (HDD navigation system) records various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the engine switch off, be sure to wait for the time specified in the following table before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

Waiting Time before Disconnecting Cable from Negative (-) Battery Terminal:





* When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Repair Instruction - Initialization.

4. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY

(a) w/o Rear Seat Entertainment System:

Remove the console box assembly Removal.

(b) w/ Rear Seat Entertainment System:

Remove the console box assembly Removal.

5. REMOVE HEADLIGHT DIMMER SWITCH ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the headlight dimmer switch assembly Removal.

6. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY





(a) Remove the 2 clips.

(b) Detach the 2 clips.

(c) Disconnect each connector and remove the instrument cluster finish panel.

7. REMOVE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY





(a) Remove the 4 screws.

(b) Disconnect each connector and remove the combination meter.

8. REMOVE INSTRUMENT SIDE PANEL LH





(a) Using a moulding remover, detach the 6 clips and remove the instrument side panel.

9. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT CLUSTER MOULDING





(a) Using a moulding remover, detach the 2 clips and remove the No. 1 instrument cluster moulding.

10. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY





(a) Remove the 2 screws.

(b) Detach the 2 claws.

(c) Disconnect each connector and clamp, and remove the No. 1 instrument panel under cover.

11. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY





(a) Using a screwdriver, detach the claw and remove the hole cover.

HINT
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.





(b) Remove the 2 screws.

(c) Detach the 5 clips and claw.

(d) Disconnect each connector and remove the No. 1 instrument panel safety pad.

12. REMOVE DRIVER SIDE KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY Removal

13. REMOVE INSTRUMENT SIDE PANEL RH





(a) Using a moulding remover, detach the 6 clips and remove the instrument side panel.

14. REMOVE NO. 2 INSTRUMENT CLUSTER MOULDING





(a) Using a moulding remover, detach the 5 clips and remove the No. 2 instrument cluster moulding.

15. REMOVE NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY





(a) Detach the 4 claws.

(b) Disconnect each connector and remove the No. 2 instrument panel under cover.

16. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL LOWER Removal

17. REMOVE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY Removal

18. REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR ASSEMBLY





(a) Remove the 5 screws.

(b) Disconnect each connector and clamp, and remove the glove compartment door.

19. REMOVE RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY Removal

20. REMOVE INTEGRATION CONTROL AND PANEL ASSEMBLY (w/o Navigation System) Removal

21. REMOVE DISPLAY AND NAVIGATION MODULE DISPLAY (w/ Navigation System) Removal

22. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL REGISTER ASSEMBLY





(a) Put protective tape around the No. 1 instrument panel register.

(b) Using a moulding remover, detach the upper 2 claws.

(c) Detach the lower 2 claws.

(d) Disconnect each connector and remove the No. 1 instrument panel register.

23. REMOVE NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL REGISTER ASSEMBLY





(a) Put protective tape around the No. 2 instrument panel register.

(b) Using a moulding remover, detach the upper 2 claws.

(c) Detach the lower 2 claws.

(d) Disconnect each connector and remove the No. 2 instrument panel register.

24. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH LH Removal

25. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH RH Removal

26. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL SPEAKER PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

27. REMOVE NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL SPEAKER PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY

HINT
Use the same procedure described for the No. 1 instrument panel speaker panel.

28. REMOVE FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY (for LH Side) Removal

29. REMOVE FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY (for RH Side)

HINT
Use the same procedure described for the LH side.

30. REMOVE NO. 1 SPEAKER HOLE COVER Removal

31. REMOVE FRONT NO. 3 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY Removal

32. REMOVE DCM (TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER) Removal

33. REMOVE NAVIGATION MODULE BOARD (w/ Navigation System for DVD) Removal

34. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Disconnect each connector and each clamp.





(b) Remove the 2 passenger airbag bolts.

(c) Remove the 5 bolts and nut.

(d) Detach the 5 claws and remove the instrument panel safety pad.





35. REMOVE NO. 3 INSTRUMENT PANEL STAY

(a) Detach the 5 claws and remove the 5 No. 3 instrument panel stays.
