Removal





SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM: DRIVER SIDE KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY: REMOVAL

1. DISCONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

NOTICE:
* w/ Navigation System (for HDD):
After the engine switch is turned off, the display and navigation module display (HDD navigation system) records various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the engine switch off, be sure to wait for the time specified in the following table before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

* When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Repair Instruction - Initialization.

2. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL END LH Removal

3. REMOVE INSTRUMENT SIDE PANEL LH Removal

4. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT CLUSTER MOULDING Removal

5. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER (w/o Driver Monitor Camera) Removal

6. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER (w/ Driver Monitor Camera) Removal

7. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSEMBLY Removal

8. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

9. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

10. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

11. REMOVE DRIVER SIDE KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the control cable.





(b) Using a screwdriver, detach the claw and remove the lock lever.

(c) Remove the 4 bolts.

(d) Detach the clip and remove the driver side knee airbag.

(e) Disconnect the connector.

NOTICE:
When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
