6 Left Water Drain

Checking, refer to => [ Checking and Cleaning Plenum Chamber Water Drain ] Testing and Inspection.

7 A/C Compressor Regulator Valve (N280)

Installed inside the A/C compressor.

Check the activation signal. Refer to => [ A/C Compressor Regulator Valve (N280), Checking Switch-On Signal ] A/C Compressor Regulator Valve (N280), Checking Switch-On Signal.

The A/C Compressor Regulator Valve is activated by the Vehicle electrical system control module (J519). The Climatronic control module (J255) , transmits the request for activation of the A/C Compressor Regulator Valve via the data bus to the Data bus on board diagnostic interface (J533) and then from there to the Vehicle electrical system control module.

8 A/C Compressor

Different versions. Refer to Electronic Parts Catalog (ETKA).

Remove from the bracket and install in the bracket:

On 6 cylinder or 8 cylinder engines remove the A/C compressor only if the refrigerant circuit has been opened. Refer to 6 cylinder (=> [ A/C Compressor ] A/C Compressor or 8 cylinder => [ A/C Compressor ] A/C Compressor).

Overview, refer to => [ Refrigerant Lines, Condenser, Expansion Valve, A/C Compressor Overview ] Refrigerant Lines, Condenser, Expansion Valve, A/C Compressor Overview.

9 A/C Pressure/Temperature Sensor (G395)

Removing and installing, refer to => [ A/C Pressure/Temperature Sensor (G395) ] A/C Pressure/Temperature Sensor (G395).

Checking, refer to => [ A/C Pressure/Temperature Sensor (G395), Checking Pressure Signal ] A/C Pressure/Temperature Sensor (G395), Checking Pressure Signal.

The A/C pressure/temperature sensor exchanges information with the Vehicle electrical system control module (J519) via a local data bus. The Vehicle electrical system control module then transmits the determined measured values to the Data bus on board diagnostic interface (J533). From there they are then transmitted via the data bus to the Climatronic control module (J255).

Component group 2

1 Coolant Fan (V7)

Different version. Refer to Electronic Parts Catalog (ETKA).

The activation request is transmitted by the Climatronic control module (J255) , via the data bus to the engine control module. The engine control module then activates the fan(s) (Coolant Fan / Coolant Fan 2 ) directly or via the Coolant fan control module (J293).

To check the activation of the coolant fans by the Climatronic control module use the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding" function.

The respective engine control module switches the Coolant fans (directly or via the Coolant fan control module) continuously without stages to the desired output (depending on the engine type). Check using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding" function.

2 Parking Heater with Auxiliary Heater Control Module (J364)

Not available in the US or Canada.

3 Recirculation Pump (V55)

For vehicles with a parking heater.

Not available in the US or Canada.

4 Label

Indicates type of refrigerant and intended capacity.

5 Coolant Pump (V50)

Depending on the equipment, not in all vehicles.

Depending on the equipment and engine, a pump may not be installed.

Check the function, refer to => [ Heat Output and Temperature Door Activation, Checking ] Heat Output and Temperature Door Activation, Checking.

Mode of operation, refer to => [ Coolant Recirculation Pump (V50) ] Coolant Recirculation Pump (V50).

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Coolant Recirculation Pump (V50) ] Coolant Recirculation Pump (V50).

6 Coolant Shut-Off Valve (N82)

Depending on the equipment.

Depending on the equipment and engine, a pump may not be installed.

Depending on the engine, the shut-off valve is installed in the coolant supply or the coolant return from the engine to the heater core of the A/C unit.

Activation, refer to => [ Coolant Shut-Off Valve (N82) ] Coolant Shut-Off Valve (N82).

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Coolant Shut-Off Valve (N82) ] Coolant Shut-Off Valve (N82).

Integration in the coolant circuit, refer to => [ Integration of A/C Unit in Coolant Circuit ] Integration of A/C Unit In Coolant Circuit.

7 Fresh Air Intake Grille

Prevents foreign objects (such as leaves) from entering the A/C unit intake shroud.

Make sure it is seated properly.

Country version: for some countries with high dust levels (for example China), a filter is installed instead of the intake air grille, which prevents dust and sand from entering the fresh air blower. Refer to Electronic Parts Catalog (ETKA).

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Fresh Air Intake Grille ] Fresh Air Intake Grille.

8 Air Intake Shroud

For fresh air intake.

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Fresh Air Intake Duct ] Fresh Air Intake Duct.

9 Air Quality Sensor (G238) / Humidity Sensor In Fresh Air Intake Duct (G657)

Different version. Refer to Electronic Parts Catalog (ETKA).

Basic version: Humidity sensor in fresh air intake duct, black housing.

Comfort version: Humidity sensor in fresh air intake duct with Air quality sensor, brown housing.

Mode of operation, refer to => [ Air Quality Sensor (G238) and Humidity Sensor in Fresh Air Intake Duct (G657) ] Description and Operation

Checking:

Air quality sensor, refer to => [ Air Quality Sensor (G238), Checking ] Air Quality Sensor (G238), Checking.

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Air Quality Sensor (G238) with Humidity Sensor In Fresh Air Intake Duct (G657) ] Service and Repair.

The measured value of the Air quality sensor and Humidity sensor in fresh air intake duct is evaluated by the Vehicle electrical system control module (J519) and is transmitted via the data bus to the Climatronic control module (J255). The Climatronic control module switches to recirculation mode upon request if there is no deactivation condition.

10 Engine Coolant (EC) Switch-Off Valve (Heater) (N279)

For vehicles with a parking heater.

Not available in the US or Canada.

In vehicles without a parking heater, the Coolant shut-off valve (N82) assumes this function

11 Expansion Valve

After the A/C compressor is switched off in this vehicle, it may take a relatively long time for the pressure on the high pressure side to decrease (the expansion valve(s) is/are cold, the pressure on the low pressure side increases quickly after deactivation, the expansion valve(s) closes/close and the refrigerant can only flow slowly to the low pressure side).

Overview, refer to => [ Refrigerant Lines, Condenser, Expansion Valve, A/C Compressor Overview ] Refrigerant Lines, Condenser, Expansion Valve, A/C Compressor Overview.

12 Coolant Fan 2 (V177)

Different version. Refer to Electronic Parts Catalog (ETKA).

The activation request is transmitted by the Climatronic control module (J255) , via the data bus to the engine control module. The engine control module then activates the fan(s) (Coolant fan and Coolant fan 2) directly or via the Coolant fan control module (J293).

To check the activation of the coolant fans by the Climatronic control module use the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding" function.

The respective engine control module switches the Coolant fan and the Coolant fan 2 (directly or via the Coolant fan control module) continuously without stages to the desired output (depending on the engine type). Check using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding" function.
