Refrigerant Lines, Condenser, Expansion Valve, A/C Compressor Overview

The condenser is available in different versions.

Component group 1






1 Screw Plug

2 Nm

Different versions. Refer to Electronic Parts Catalog (ETKA).

With filter element (screen).

Replace the screw plug if damaged.

Lubricate lightly with refrigerant oil before installing.

2 O-ring Seal

Replace; for the correct version refer to the Electronic Parts Catalog.

Lubricate lightly with refrigerant oil before installing.

3 Dryer Cartridge

Different versions, refer to Electronic Parts Catalog.

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Dryer Cartridge ] Dryer Cartridge.

4 Fluid Reservoir

Different versions, refer to Electronic Parts Catalog.

Integrated in the condenser in this version.

5 Condenser

Refrigerant line, disconnecting and reconnecting, refer to => [ Refrigerant Lines At Condenser, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Refrigerant Lines at Condenser, Disconnecting and Connecting.

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Condenser ] Condenser.

6 Screw - M6

9 Nm

7 A/C Pressure/Temperature Sensor (G395)

8 O-ring Seal

Replace; for the correct version refer to the Electronic Parts Catalog.

Lubricate lightly with refrigerant oil before installing.

9 O-ring Seal

Replace; for the correct version refer to the Electronic Parts Catalog.

Lubricate lightly with refrigerant oil before installing.

10 Refrigerant Line

To the refrigerant line with an inner heat exchanger.

With a branch to the high pressure side service connection.

With wear protection.

11 Screw - M6

9 Nm

12 O-ring Seal

Replace; for the correct version refer to the Electronic Parts Catalog.

Lubricate lightly with refrigerant oil before installing.

13 Refrigerant Line

To the A/C compressor.

Component group 2

The illustration shows a 6 cylinder engine. The allocation for the A/C compressor may vary depending on the engine.

2 A/C Compressor

Different versions, refer to Electronic Parts Catalog.

Disconnect and connect the refrigerant line:

Vehicles with 4 cylinder TFSI engine, refer to => [ A/C Compressor Refrigerant Lines ] A/C Compressor Refrigerant Lines.

Vehicles with 6 cylinder TFSI engine, refer to => [ A/C Compressor Refrigerant Lines ] A/C Compressor Refrigerant Lines.

Vehicles with 8 cylinder TFSI engine, refer to => [ A/C Compressor Refrigerant Lines ] A/C Compressor Refrigerant Lines

Removing and installing:

Vehicles with 4 cylinder TFSI engine, refer to => [ A/C Compressor ] A/C Compressor.

Vehicles with 6 cylinder TFSI engine=> [ A/C Compressor ] A/C Compressor.

Vehicles with 8 cylinder TFSI engine, refer to => [ A/C Compressor ] A/C Compressor

Remove from the bracket and install in the bracket:


Replace the belt pulley. Refer to => [ A/C Compressor Belt Pulley ] Description and Operation.

Replace the drive unit.

3 O-ring Seal

Replace; for the correct version refer to the Electronic Parts Catalog.

Lubricate lightly with refrigerant oil before installing.

4 Refrigerant Line

To the refrigerant line with an inner heat exchanger.

With a branch to the service connection on the high pressure side.

With wear protection.

Depending on the version of the refrigerant line and the production period, an additional weight (damper weight) or a pre-volume (resonator in the refrigerant line) can be present at the refrigerant line. Ensure that these components are not in contact with other components or do not come into contact during operation (noises). Refer to Electronic Parts Catalog (ETKA).

7 Refrigerant Line

From the A/C compressor.

For the refrigerant line.

10 O-ring Seal

Replace; for the correct version refer to the Electronic Parts Catalog.

Lubricate lightly with refrigerant oil before installing.

11 Expansion Valve

Different versions, refer to Electronic Parts Catalog.

Refrigerant line, disconnecting and reconnecting, refer to => [ Refrigerant Tube with Inner Heater Exchanger ] Refrigerant Tube With Inner Heater Exchanger.

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Expansion Valve ] Expansion Valve.

12 O-ring Seal

Replace; for the correct version refer to the Electronic Parts Catalog.

Lubricate lightly with refrigerant oil before installing.

13 Screw

10 Nm

14 O-ring Seal

Replace; for the correct version refer to the Electronic Parts Catalog.

Lubricate lightly with refrigerant oil before installing.

15 Refrigerant Pipe With Inner Heat Exchanger

The warm liquid refrigerant flowing on the high pressure side releases energy into the vaporous cold refrigerant flowing on the low pressure side. This increases the efficiency of the A/C system.

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Refrigerant Tube with Inner Heater Exchanger ] Refrigerant Tube With Inner Heater Exchanger.

16 O-ring Seal

Replace; for the correct version refer to the Electronic Parts Catalog.

Lubricate lightly with refrigerant oil before installing.

17 Bracket

For refrigerant line with inner heat exchanger.

18 Nut

2.5 Nm

19 Refrigerant Line

From the condenser.

With a branch to the service connection on the high pressure side.

With wear protection.

20 Screw - M6

9 Nm

21 Screw - M8

25 Nm

22 Refrigerant Line

From the condenser.

23 O-ring Seal

Replace; for the correct version refer to the Electronic Parts Catalog.

Lubricate lightly with refrigerant oil before installing.
