Integration of A/C Unit In Coolant Circuit

Integration of A/C Unit in Coolant Circuit

The arrows indicate the flow direction of the coolant

1 Heater Core

For heater (of the A/C unit).

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Heater Core ] Service and Repair.

2 Coolant Pump (V50)

Depending on the equipment of the engine.

Function, refer to => [ Coolant Recirculation Pump (V50) ] Coolant Recirculation Pump (V50).

Check the function. Refer to => [ Heat Output and Temperature Door Activation, Checking ] Heat Output and Temperature Door Activation, Checking.

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Coolant Recirculation Pump (V50) ] Coolant Recirculation Pump (V50).

The pump is currently installed in all vehicles without a parking heater.

Omission of the pump for certain engines has not yet been finalized.

3 Coolant Supply From Engine

4 Coolant Return To Engine

5 Coolant Shut-Off Valve (N82)

Depending on the equipment of the engine.

Function, refer to => [ Coolant Shut-Off Valve (N82) ] Coolant Shut-Off Valve (N82) and Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding" function.

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Coolant Shut-Off Valve (N82) ] Coolant Shut-Off Valve (N82).

The Coolant Shut-Off Valve is activated directly by the Climatronic control module (J255).

The shutting off of the heater core by the engine coolant circuit also depends on the engine/transmission version (in certain versions shutoff is not performed while in other versions shutoff is performed in connection with the heating or cooling of the transmission oil).

The shut-off valve is currently only installed in certain engines, engine/transmission combinations and only in vehicles without a parking heater.

6 Ventilation Hole

In the coolant hose.

Bleeding, refer to => [ Bleeding the Coolant Circuit ] Bleeding the Coolant Circuit.
