Cooling System Components Overview, Body Side

Auxiliary cooler removing and installing. Refer to => [ Auxiliary Cooler ] Auxiliary Cooler.

Make sure when replacing the expansion tank and for maintenance work that there is always a silicate cartridge in the expansion tank, refer to the Parts Catalog. The silicate cartridge must not be removed.






1 Cap

Check using the cooling system tester (V.A.G 1274) and the adapter (V.A.G 1274/9).

The pressure relief valve must open at 1.4 to 1.6 bar.

2 Connector

3 Stud Bolt

5 Nm

4 Expansion Tank

Make sure when replacing the expansion tank and for maintenance work that there is always a silicate cartridge in the expansion tank, refer to the Parts Catalog. The silicate cartridge must not be removed.

Perform a leak test on the cooling system using the cooling system tester (V.A.G 1274 B) and the adapter (V.A.G 1274/8).

5 Sealing Strip

Not installed.

6 O-ring

Replace if damaged.

7 Lower Coolant Hose

To the connection for the thermostat housing.

8 Nut

5 Nm

9 Bolt

5 Nm

10 Coolant Fan 2 (V177)

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Fan Shroud and Fans ] Service and Repair.

11 Coolant Fan (V7)

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Fan Shroud and Fans ] Service and Repair.

With the coolant fan control module (J293).

12 Connector

13 Fan Shroud

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Fan Shroud and Fans ] Service and Repair.

14 Radiator

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Radiator ] Radiator.

After replacing, replace the entire amount of coolant.

15 Upper Coolant Hose

To the connection on the cylinder head.
