Backrest Release Cable

• The left and right release cables cannot be replaced separately.

• The release cable are secured in part with cable ties, which need to be replaced during installation.

Removing

The general safety precautions for working on airbag, belt tensioner and battery cut-out units (pyrotechnic components) must be observed. - Attach the fixture for seat repair (VAS 6136) to the engine/transmission holder (VAS 6095).

- Remove the front seat. Refer to => [ Front Seat ] Front Seat.

- Secure the seat on the fixture for seat repair (VAS 6136).

- Remove the trim on the tunnel side. Refer to => [ Tunnel Side Trim ] Tunnel Side Trim.

- Remove the backrest adjustment wheel. Refer to => [ Backrest Adjusting Wheel ] Backrest Adjusting Wheel.

- Remove the seat height adjustment handle. Refer to => [ Seat Height Adjustment Handle ] Seat Height Adjustment Handle.

- Remove the trim on the door sill side. Refer to => [ Door Sill Side Trim ] Door Sill Side Trim.

- Remove the backrest. Refer to => [ Front Backrest ] Front Backrest.

- Remove the entry assistance trim panel. Refer to => [ Entry Assistance Trim ] Entry Assistance Trim.

- Remove the cover and the front seat backrest padding. Refer to => [ Front Seat Backrest Cover and Upholstery ] Front Seat Backrest Cover and Upholstery.

- Remove the side airbag. Refer to => [ Driver and Passenger Side Airbag ] Driver and Passenger Side Airbag.

• The spring mat or lumbar support does not need to be removed when removing and installing the release cables.

- Remove the eyelets - 3 - (2 pieces) on both sides from the bolts - 4 -(2 pieces) with the pliers.






- Remove the rivets - 2 - from the left and right bracket - 1 -.

5 Backrest frame

- Unclip the end of the release cable - 2 -.






- This is done by removing the end of the release cable from the bracket - 1 - in the direction of - arrow -.

- Remove the bearing - 1 - from the backrest frame - 2 -.






- Guide the end of the release cable through the mount opening in the backrest frame.

- Remove the left and right release cables from the backrest frame.

Installation

Installation is reverse of removal, noting the following:

- Adjust the left and right release cables, refer to => [ Backrest Release Cable, Adjusting ] Backrest Release Cable, Adjusting.
