Removal





PARKING BRAKE: PARKING BRAKE CABLE: REMOVAL

HINT
* Use the same procedure for the No. 2 parking brake cable assembly and No. 3 parking brake cable assembly.
* The procedure listed below is for the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly.

1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

NOTICE:
When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Repair Instruction - Initialization.

2. REMOVE REAR CONSOLE BOX SUB-ASSEMBLY

3. REMOVE NO. 1 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY

Removal

4. REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY

Removal

5. REMOVE FRONT UPPER NO. 1 FLOOR HEAT INSULATOR

(a) Remove the 3 nuts and front upper No. 1 floor heat insulator.





6. REMOVE FRONT UPPER NO. 2 FLOOR HEAT INSULATOR

(a) Remove the 3 nuts and front upper No. 2 floor heat insulator.





7. DISCONNECT PARKING BRAKE CABLE SUPPORT CLAMP SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Detach the clamp to disconnect the parking brake cable support clamp sub-assembly.





8. REMOVE NO. 3 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the 5 bolts.





(b) Pull out the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly to the outside of the body.





(c) Remove the parking brake lever protector.

(d) Disconnect the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly from the rear disc brake cylinder assembly.





(e) Remove the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly.

HINT
Insert an offset wrench (14 mm) at the base of the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly as shown in the illustration to disengage the clip. Pull out the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly from the rear disc brake cylinder assembly.

9. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE CABLE SUPPORT CLAMP SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Detach the 2 claws to remove the parking brake cable support clamp sub-assembly from the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly.
