PARKING BRAKE: PARKING BRAKE LEVER: REMOVAL

1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

NOTICE:
When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Repair Instruction - Initialization.

2. REMOVE REAR CONSOLE BOX SUB-ASSEMBLY

3. REMOVE NO. 5 CROSSMEMBER FLOOR REINFORCEMENT SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Fold back the floor carpet and remove the 5 bolts.

(b) Remove the No. 5 crossmember floor reinforcement sub-assembly from the body.

4. DISCONNECT PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the lock nut and loosen the adjusting nut.

(b) Disconnect the No. 3 parking brake cable from the parking brake equalizer as shown in the illustration.

(c) Disconnect the No. 2 parking brake cable from the parking brake equalizer.

HINT
Use the same procedure described for the No. 3 parking brake cable.

5. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE LEVER ASSEMBLY

(a) Disconnect the parking brake switch connector.

(b) Remove the 2 bolts and parking brake lever assembly.

6. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE EQUALIZER

(a) Detach the 2 claws to disconnect the parking brake equalizer from the No. 1 parking brake cable.

(b) Detach the 2 claws to remove the parking brake equalizer from the parking brake cable end stopper.

7. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE CABLE END STOPPER

(a) Remove the parking brake cable end stopper from the No. 1 parking brake cable.

8. REMOVE NO. 1 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the adjusting nut.

(b) Pull up the parking brake lever claw.

9. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SWITCH ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the screw and parking brake switch from the parking brake lever.

10. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE LEVER SUPPORT BRACKET

(a) Detach the 2 clamps from the parking brake lever support bracket.

(b) Remove the 2 bolts and parking brake lever support bracket.
