Removal





WINDSHIELD / WINDOWGLASS: BACK WINDOW GLASS: REMOVAL

HINT
When removing the moulding, heat the vehicle body and moulding using a heat light.

Heating temperature:





NOTICE:
Do not heat the vehicle body and moulding excessively.

1. REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER RH Removal

2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

NOTICE:
* w/ Navigation System (for HDD):
After the engine switch is turned off, the display and navigation module display (HDD navigation system) records various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the engine switch off, be sure to wait for the time specified in the following table before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

Waiting Time before Disconnecting Cable from Negative (-) Battery Terminal:





* When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Repair Instruction - Initialization.

3. REMOVE REAR SEAT ASSEMBLY

(a) for Power Seat:

Remove the rear seat Removal.

(b) for Ottoman:

Remove the rear seat Removal.

(c) for Fixed Seat Type:

Remove the rear seat Removal.

4. REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH

(a) for Standard Body:

Remove the rear door scuff plate Removal.

(b) for Long Body:

Remove the rear door scuff plate Removal.

5. REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH

(a) for Standard Body:

Remove the rear door scuff plate Removal.

(b) for Long Body:

Remove the rear door scuff plate Removal.

6. REMOVE REAR SEAT SIDE GARNISH LH Removal

7. REMOVE REAR SEAT SIDE GARNISH RH Removal

10. REMOVE PACKAGE TRAY TRIM PANEL ASSEMBLY

(a) w/ Rear Sunshade:

Remove the package tray trim panel assembly Removal.

(b) w/o Rear Sunshade:

Remove the package tray trim panel assembly Removal.

11. REMOVE NO. 2 PACKAGE TRAY TRIM PANEL ASSEMBLY (w/ Rear Sunshade) Removal

12. REMOVE ROOF CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY (w/ Rear Seat Entertainment System) Removal

13. REMOVE SPOT LIGHT ASSEMBLY Removal

14. REMOVE REAR VANITY LIGHT ASSEMBLY Removal

(a) for Standard Body:

HINT
It is not necessary to completely remove the roof headlining. Slightly lower the rear section of the roof headlining Removal so that the back window glass can be removed in a later step.

(b) for Long Body:

HINT
It is not necessary to completely remove the roof headlining. Slightly lower the rear section of the roof headlining Removal so that the back window glass can be removed in a later step.

20. REMOVE AMPLIFIER ANTENNA ASSEMBLY Removal

21. REMOVE ROOF DRIP SIDE FINISH MOULDING CENTER LH

22. REMOVE ROOF DRIP SIDE FINISH MOULDING CENTER RH

Use the same procedure described for the LH side.

23. REMOVE NO. 2 WINDSHIELD OUTSIDE MOULDING CLIP

35. REMOVE FRONT LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM COVER Removal

36. REMOVE REAR FLOOR FINISH PLATE Removal

37. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM COVER ASSEMBLY LH Removal

38. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM COVER ASSEMBLY RH Removal

39. REMOVE REAR COMBINATION LIGHT ASSEMBLY LH Removal

40. REMOVE REAR COMBINATION LIGHT ASSEMBLY RH

(a) Use the same procedure described for the RH side.

41. REMOVE BACK WINDOW MOULDING OUTSIDE LOWER

(a) Using a screwdriver, detach the 2 claws, 4 fasteners and double-sided tape (3 areas). Slide the moulding toward the vehicle front along the back window glass to detach the clip. Then remove the moulding.

NOTICE:
* If reusing the moulding, take care not to damage the moulding.
* Be careful not to damage the vehicle body.
* Do not lift the moulding or slide it toward vehicle rear when detaching the clip.

HINT
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.





42. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR HINGE COVER LH





(a) Using a screwdriver, detach the double-sided tape (2 areas) and 2 clips. Then remove the hinge cover.

NOTICE:
* If reusing the hinge cover, take care not to damage the hinge cover.
* Be careful not to damage the vehicle body.

HINT
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

43. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR HINGE COVER RH

HINT
Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

44. REMOVE NO. 2 CENTER STOP LIGHT COVER Removal

45. REMOVE CENTER STOP LIGHT COVER Removal

46. REMOVE CENTER STOP LIGHT CLIP Removal

47. REMOVE CENTER STOP LIGHT ASSEMBLY Removal

48. REMOVE BACK WINDOW GLASS





NOTICE:
As the stopper, bracket and harness are not supplied individually, be careful not to damage them when installing the back window glass.





(a) Apply protective tape to the outer surface of the vehicle body to prevent scratches.

NOTICE:
When separating the back window glass from the vehicle, be careful not to damage the vehicle's paint or interior/exterior ornaments.





(b) From the interior, insert a piano wire between the vehicle body and back window glass as shown in the illustration.

CAUTION:
* If the stopper is damaged, the back window glass assembly must be replaced. Be careful when performing the procedure.
* Make sure not to deform the upper brackets.
* Make sure not to damage the wire harness.
(c) Tie objects that can serve as handles (for example, wooden blocks) to both wire ends.





(d) Place matchmarks over the glass and vehicle body on the locations indicated in the illustration.

HINT
Matchmarks do not need to be placed if the glass is not going to be reused.

(e) Cut through the adhesive by pulling the piano wire around the back window glass.

NOTICE:
Leave as much adhesive on the vehicle body as possible when removing the back window glass.

(f) Using suction cups, remove the back window glass.

NOTICE:
If the stopper is damaged, the back window glass assembly must be replaced. Be careful when performing the procedure.

49. CLEAN BACK WINDOW GLASS





(a) Clean the outer edge of the back window glass with a non-residue solvent.

NOTICE:
* Do not touch the back window glass surface after cleaning it.
* Be careful not to damage the glass.
* Even if using new back window glass, clean the back window glass with a non-residue solvent.

50. CLEAN VEHICLE BODY





(a) Using a scraper, remove the moulding and adhesive from the back window glass.

(b) Clean and shape the contact surface of the vehicle body.

(1) On the contact surface of the vehicle body, use a knife to cut away excess adhesive as shown in the illustration.

HINT
Leave as much adhesive on the vehicle body as possible.

NOTICE:
Be careful not to damage the vehicle body.

(2) Clean the contact surface of the vehicle body with cleaner.

HINT
Even if all the adhesive has been removed, clean the vehicle body.
