Removing and Installing/Replacing Rear Window Module




54 34 280 - Removing and installing/replacing rear window module





Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove air outlet trim grill Service and Repair
- Remove rear side trim panel Removing and Installing/Replacing Rear Left or Right Upper Side Trim Section
- Convertible top Adjustments must be correctly adjusted





Open convertible top compartment lid until all hydraulic cylinders are extended.
Support convertible top compartment lid in service position Procedures.





Unlock and disconnect lower plug connection (1) on right side of vehicle.
Disconnect cable straps.





Release screws and set down hydraulic unit to one side.

Installation:
Replace Torx screws and insert with Loctite.





Note:
Leave retaining bracket screwed down on rollover protection.
Stop for adjusting rear window module.

Release screws (1).

Tightening torque 51 17 19AZ 51 17 Flaps.

Installation:
Replace all Torx screws and insert with Loctite.





Release left and right screws (1).
Remove cover (2) on left and right.





Note:
Before releasing screws (2), mark position to ensure correct alignment during installation.

Loosen screws (2).

Tightening torque 54 34 9AZ 54 34 Motor-Driven Convertible Top (Hydraulic Components).
Release left and right screws (1).

Installation:
Replace all Torx screws and insert with Loctite.





Remove rear window module (1) from convertible top main bearing.

Installation:
Align rear window module to marking and adjust if necessary.
If necessary, adjust seal Removing and Installing / Replacing Middle Seal on Convertible Top Compartment Lid (Top/Connected) on convertible top compartment lid.





Adjusting rear window module:

Important!
Rear window will damage the seal during retraction if the pretension is too high.

Adjust rear window module so that rear window (1) retracts correctly between seal (2).

Allow rear window (1) to settle in seal (2) and tighten down screws of rear window module.
