Flange Shafts, Shaft Seals Overview
1 Nut
• 480 Nm
• Replace, refer to the Parts Catalog
• For output flange
2 Bevel Box Output Flange
3 Output Flange Cover Cap
• Only replace if damaged
4 Shaft Seal
• For output flange bevel box
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Bevel Box Drive Flange Seal ] Bevel Box Drive Flange Seal
5 Shaft Seal
• Between the bevel box and transmission
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Seal between Transmission and Bevel Box ] Seal Between Transmission and Bevel Box
6 Bevel Box
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Bevel Box ] Service and Repair
7 Oil Drain Plug
• For bevel box
• Tightening specification, refer to => [ Oil Drain and Inspection Plug in Bevel Box Overview ] Oil Drain and Inspection Plug In Bevel Box Overview
8 Shaft Seal

9 Filling and Inspection Plug
• For bevel box
• Tightening specification, refer to => [ Oil Drain and Inspection Plug in Bevel Box Overview ] Oil Drain and Inspection Plug In Bevel Box Overview
10 Bolt
• 40 Nm plus an additional 45° turn
• Replace
• Quantity: 4
• Affix bevel box to transmission
11 Ventilation Pipe
12 Ventilation Cap
13 Countersunk Bolt
• 30 Nm
• Replace
14 Right Flange Shaft
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Right Flange Shaft ] Right Flange Shaft
15 Shaft Seal
• Replace after removing the right flange shaft
16 Needle Bearing
• If the needle bearings (polygon bearings) are difficult to move with flange shaft removed, this does not indicate a faulty bearing. A test for noisy bearings can only be performed with the bearings installed.
• Check for damage to the bearing, for example, cracks on the outer race, replace if necessary.

17 Needle Bearing
• If the needle bearings (polygon bearings) are difficult to move with flange shaft removed, this does not indicate a faulty bearing. A test for noisy bearings can only be performed with the bearings installed.

18 Locking Ring
• Replace
Bevel Box Bracket for Vehicles with 4-Cylinder, 2.0L TFSI - Tightening Specification and Sequence
- Tighten bolts in 3 stages as follows:
1. Install and tighten the bolts - 1 - hand-tight.
2. Tighten the bolts - 2 - to 40 Nm.
3. Tighten the bolts - 1 - to 40 Nm.
Bevel Box Bracket - A - for Vehicles with 6-Cylinder 3.2L Engine - Tightening Specification and Sequence
- Tighten bolts in 4 stages as follows:
1. Install bolts - 1 - and - 2 - hand tight.
2. Pretighten bolts - 1 - to 3 Nm.
3. Tighten the bolts - 2 - to 40 Nm.
4. Tighten the bolts - 1 - to 40 Nm.
Heat Shield for Drive Axle on Bevel Box - Tightening Specifications
- Tighten the bolts - arrows - to 20 Nm.
