Volume Does Not Change (With Navigation)




Symptom Troubleshooting: Volume does not change

Volume does not change (with navigation)

NOTE:

- Check the vehicle battery condition first.

- Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.

- Set the fader and balance positions to the center.

1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.

2. Turn on the audio-navigation unit, and check for sound in each mode (AM, FM, XM, and CD).

Is the sound normal?
YES - Go to step 3.

NO - Go to Sound Quality Diagnosis Sound Quality Diagnosis - Left/Right Channel ID or no sound is heard from speaker(s). No Sound Is Heard From the Speaker(s) (Display Is Normal) (With Navigation)


3. Operate the volume knob to see if the volume changes.

Does the volume change?
YES - Operation is normal.

NO - Go to step 4.


4. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.

5. Disconnect the audio switch panel 24P connector and audio-navigation unit connector F (12P).
NOTE: Eject all the discs before removing the audio-navigation unit to prevent damaging the CD player's load mechanism.

6. Check for continuity between the audio-navigation switch panel 24P connector and audio-navigation unit connector F (12P) as shown.

Is there continuity?
YES - Go to step 7.

NO - There is an open in the wire(s) between the audio-navigation unit and the audio-navigation switch panel. Replace the affected shielded harness.






7. Check for continuity between the audio-navigation switch panel 24P connector and body ground according to the table.





Is there continuity?
YES - There is a short to body ground in the wire(s) between the audio-navigation unit and the audio-navigation switch panel. Replace the affected shielded harness.

NO - Go to step 8.






8. Check for continuity between the terminals of audio-navigation switch panel 24P connector according to the table.





Is there continuity between any of the terminals?
YES - There is a short in the wires between the audio-navigation unit and the audio-navigation switch panel. Replace the affected shielded harness.

NO - Substitute a known-good audio-navigation unit (including the HDD), Audio-Navigation Unit Removal/Installation (With Navigation) and recheck. If the symptom-indication goes away, replace the original audio-navigation unit. If the symptom is still present, substitute a known-good audio-navigation switch panel, Audio-Navigation Switch Panel Removal/Installation (With Navigation) and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away, replace the original audio-navigation switch panel.
