Hood Latch Release Cable: Service and Repair






Cable hood catch, replacing

As the illustrations in this service information are used for different model years and / or models, some variation may occur. However, the essential information in the illustrations is always correct.

Removing the hood catch cable




Disconnect the mechanical cable. See Hood catch, replacing Service and Repair.

Remove:
- the sill trim panel. See Sill trim panel, replacing Removal and Replacement
- the hood catch mechanism
- the panel for the hood catch mechanism.
Unhook the cable from the hood catch mechanism.





Hint: Before pulling out the cable sleeve, mark the sleeve using tape or a marker pen. Then install the new cable sleeve following the old one, so that the marking is in the correct place.

Pull the cable sleeve out of the engine compartment. Leave the plastic pipe in position.

Note! Note how the cable sleeve is routed to the hood catches.

Installing the mechanical cable for the hood catches

Note! For tightening torques, see Tightening torque [1][2]Body and Frame.

Feed the cable sleeve into the plastic pipe to its correct position. Ensure that the marking is at the front of the plastic pipe.

Note! Note how the cable sleeve is routed to the hood catches.

Install the panel for the hood catch mechanism. Hook the cable into place.

Install:
- the hood catch mechanism
- the 1 M6 screw for the hood catch mechanism. Tighten
- the sill trim panel. See Sill trim panel, replacing Removal and Replacement
- the hood catch cable. See Hood catch, replacing Service and Repair.
