Hood Latch: Service and Repair

Hood catch, replacing

Hood release catch (left-hand side), replacing

Removing the hood release catch (left-hand side)





Remove:
- the air baffle for the air cleaner (ACL) box.




- the headlamp. See Headlight/bulb, replacing Headlamp/Bulb, Replacing
- the 2 screws for the hood catch.




- the 2 nuts for the vacuum pump.
Move the vacuum pump to one side.





Remove:
- the 2 screws for the latch
- the latch.




Unhook the cable.

Note! Note the position of the lock cable.

Replace the lock.

Installing the hood release catch (left-hand side)

Note! For tightening torques, see Tightening torque [1][2]Body and Frame.

Angle in the hood catch together with the latch.
Secure the hood catch using the 2 M6 screws. Finger tighten.

Hint: Do not tighten the screws for the hood catch until the hood is closed (see the illustration).

Install:
- the 2 M8 screws for the latch. Tighten
- the vacuum pump
- 2 M6 nuts. Tighten
- the air baffle
- the 2 M6 screws. Tighten.




Close the hood.
Tighten the 2 M6 screws for the hood catch.
Open the hood.
Install the headlamp. See Headlight/bulb, replacing Headlamp/Bulb, Replacing.

Removing the hood release catch (right-hand side)





Remove:
- the headlamp. See Headlight/bulb, replacing Headlamp/Bulb, Replacing
- the 2 screws for the hood catch.




Move the hood catch to one side.
Unhook the cable.

Note! Note the position of the lock cable.

Replace the lock.

Installing the hood release catch (right-hand side)

Note! For tightening torques, see Tightening torque [1][2]Body and Frame.

Install the hood catch.
Secure the hood catch using the 2 M6 screws. Finger tighten.

Hint: Do not tighten the screws for the hood catch until the hood is closed (see the illustration).

Close the hood.
Tighten the 2 M6 screws for the hood catch.
Open the hood.
Install the headlamp. See Headlight/bulb, replacing Headlamp/Bulb, Replacing.
