Timing Chain: Service and Repair






Camshaft chain

Note! Some variation in the illustrations may occur, but the essential information is always correct.











Removal

Disconnect the battery ground cable. Battery Disconnecting

This procedure requires that the car is raised. Refer to: Jacking points body Locations

Remove the following items:
- the valve covers. Refer to: Valve cover, B8444S Service and Repair
- the accessory drive belt/accessory drive belt tensioner. Refer to: Tensioner accessory drive belt, B8444S Service and Repair
- the vibration damper. Refer to: Crankshaft front seal, B8444S Service and Repair
- right engine support insulator. Refer to: Engine support insulator, right, B8444S Engine Support Insulator, Right.

Note! Make sure that the installation marks are aligned.









Installation









Install the following items:
- Torque: M6, 10 Nm

- Torque: M8, 24 Nm




Minimize chain slack.





Caution! Take extra care not to damage the mating faces.

Note! Make sure that the mating faces are clean and free of foreign material.

Use: Liquid gasket, 30757050

Note! Minimum 1 mm bead thickness.

Note! Install within 5 minutes.








Torque: M8, 24 Nm




Torque: Centre screw idler roller , 35 Nm




Torque: M6, 10 Nm




Torque: M8, 24 Nm




Torque: M8, 24 Nm

Install the following items:
- the vibration damper. Refer to: Crankshaft front seal, B8444S Service and Repair
- the right engine support insulator. Refer to: Engine support insulator, right, B8444S Engine Support Insulator, Right
- the valve covers. Refer to: Valve cover, B8444S Service and Repair
- the accessory drive belt and accessory drive belt tensioner. Auxiliary belt, B8444S Service and Repair.
