Selector Mechanism
Move the selector lever into the "P" position and set the parking brake before working with the engine running.
1 Selector Handle with Cover
• Do not remove the handle unnecessarily. For emergency release, only the cover must be removed. Refer to => [ Selector Lever, Manual Release ] Selector Lever, Manual Release.
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Selector Lever Handle ] Selector Lever Handle.
2 Clamp
• Always replace.
• For attaching the handle to the selector lever.
• Attach to the selector handle using the hose clamp pliers (V.A.G 1275).
3 Selector Mechanism with Selector Lever Cable
• With the shift lock solenoid (N110).
• Do not grease the selector lever cable.
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Selector Mechanism with Cable ] Selector Mechanism with Cable.
• Checking, refer to => [ Selector Lever Cable, Checking ] Testing and Inspection.
• Adjusting, refer to => [ Selector Lever Cable, Adjusting ] Adjustments.
4 Bolt
• 8 Nm
5 Nut
• 8 Nm
• Quantity: 4
6 Selector Housing
• Available only together with the selector mechanism, refer to the Parts Catalog.
7 Bolt
• 20 Nm + 90° (1/4) additional turn.
• Always replace.
• Quantity: 2
• For attaching the cable bracket to the transmission.
8 Cable Bracket
• For the selector lever cable.
9 Lock Washer
• Always replace after removing.
10 Lock Washer
• Always replace after removing.
• Installed position: The offset side faces forward, toward the front of the vehicle.
• The lock washer fits very tightly on the cable bracket. If necessary, remove the cable bracket and selector lever cable from the transmission. Refer to => [ remove the cable bracket and selector lever cable from the transmission. Remove the bolts and the lock washer. ] Selector Mechanism with Cable.
