Selector Lever Handle
There is the possibility that the button - arrow - can be pressed into the handle. Never install the handle when the button is pressed in.
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Trim Removal Wedge (3409)
• Hose Clamp Pliers (V.A.G 1275)
Removing
The handle is removed together with the selector cover.
- Move the selector lever into the "D" position.
It is not necessary to pull out the button - A - manually. The button locks in the installed position by itself when the handle is removed.
- Unclip the cover - B - carefully using the trim removal wedge (3409).
- Fold the cover - B - up over the handle.
- Disconnect the connector - A - from the selector lever scale illumination bulb (L101).
- Open the clamp - arrow - under the handle.
- Pull the handle with the cover upward. Do not press the button while doing this.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
• The selector lever is in the "D" position.
• There is the possibility that the button can be pressed into the handle. Never install the handle when the button is pressed in.
• Move the button into the installed position. Refer to => [ Handle Button, Moving into the Installed Position ] Procedures.
• A new handle is delivered with an assembly aid. Pull out the assembly aid in the - direction of the arrow - just before installing the new handle.
• The installed position can be set again using the assembly aid. Refer to => [ Handle Button, Moving into the Installed Position ] Procedures.
• If the button stays in the handle after being pressed, this means it was installed incorrectly. If this happens, remove the handle again and move the button into the installed position again. Refer to => [ Handle Button, Moving into the Installed Position ] Procedures. Then install the handle again.
- Push the handle with a new clamp - arrow - completely onto the selector lever.
• The button faces forward.
- Tension the new clamp using the hose clamp pliers (V.A.G 1275).
