Selector Mechanism

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Socket and Key (T40031)

Removing

- Remove the selector lever knob. Refer to => [ Selector Lever Knob and Boot ] Selector Lever Boot, Separating from Handle.

- The procedure for disconnecting the battery must be followed.

- Turn off the ignition and disconnect the battery ground cable.

- Remove the center console.

- Pull the noise insulation out of the center console.

- Disconnect the electrical connector - 1 - and remove the bolts - arrows -.






- Remove the center console bracket.

- Remove the bolts - arrows -.






- Press the emergency release lever - C - down and hold it.






- Pull the rod - B - upward and shift the selector lever in the direction of the - arrow - to the stop in the "S" position of the selector lever.

• Ignore item - A -.

• The selector mechanism is shown from the front in the graphic.

- Lift the selector mechanism.

• Do not bend or kink the selector lever cable.

- Loosen the set screw - 1 - through the opening at the top of the selector mechanism - arrow - using the socket and key (T40031).






- Pull out retainer plate - 2 - from the selector lever cable - 1 - in a downward direction and remove the selector mechanism.






Installing

Installation is performed in the reverse order, paying attention to the following:

• Do not bend or kink the selector lever cable.

- Install the selector lever cable - 1 - and secure with a new retainer plate - 2 -.






• Installed position: the Angled end of the retainer plate points toward the rear.

- Install the retaining hook - A - in the selector mechanism shift unit and install the screws - arrows -. Tighten the bolts => [ (Item 11) Bolt ] Selector Mechanism Overview to specification.






- Connect the connector - 1 -.






- Install the center console bracket.

- Connect the connector - 1 - to the selector lever sensor system control module with tiptronic switch.






- Adjust the selector lever cable. Refer to => [ Selector Lever Cable, Checking and Adjusting ] Adjustments.

- Install the center console.

- Connect the battery.

- Install the selector lever knob. Refer to => [ Selector Lever Knob and Boot ] Selector Lever Boot, Separating from Handle.
