Lower Intake Manifold, Right Side

Removing

Follow the guidelines for a clean working environment when working on the fuel system. Refer to => [ Clean Working Conditions and Fuel System Work Instructions ] Clean Working Conditions and Fuel System Work Instructions.

Always follow these rules before and during work.

- Remove the engine cover. Refer to => [ Engine Cover ] Engine Cover.

- Remove the upper intake manifold. Refer to => [ Upper Intake Manifold ] Upper Intake Manifold.

- Remove the bolts - arrows - and the high pressure line protective plate.






- Loosen the union nuts - 1 and 4 - and remove the high pressure line.

Ignore - 2 and 3 -.

- Disconnect the connector - 2 - from the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) cooler pump.






- Remove the bolts - 1 -.

- Remove the electrical connectors - 1 and 2 - from the bracket.






- Pry the connecting rod - 1 - off the intake flap motor.






- Disconnect the connector - 3 - from the intake flap motor.

- Remove the bolts - 2 and 4 - and remove the intake flap motor.

- Disconnect the glow plug connectors for cylinders 1, 2 and 3.

- Push the electrical harness to the side.

- Remove the lower intake manifold bolts - arrows -.






- Press the coolant pipe to the side and remove the lower intake manifold.

Ignore - 1 -.

Seal the intake passages in the cylinder head using a clean cloth.

Installing

Tightening specifications, refer to => [ Intake Manifold Overview ] Intake Manifold Overview.

Install in the reverse order of removal. Note the following:

Replace the seals

- Install the intake flap motor. Refer to => [ Intake Manifold Overview ] Intake Manifold Overview.

- Install the upper intake manifold. Refer to => [ Upper Intake Manifold ] Upper Intake Manifold.

- Install the high pressure lines. Refer to => [ High Pressure Lines, Installing ] Service and Repair.

- Inspect the fuel system for leaks. Refer to => [ Fuel System, Checking for Leaks ] Fuel System, Checking for Leaks.
