Upper Intake Manifold
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Socket 14 mm (3150)
• Torque Wrench (5-50 Nm) (V.A.G 1331)
• Ratchet, Reversible (V.A.G 1331/1)
• Socket Insert AF 14 (V.A.G 1331/8)
Removing
• Follow the guidelines for a clean working environment when working on the fuel system. Refer to => [ Clean Working Conditions and Fuel System Work Instructions ] Clean Working Conditions and Fuel System Work Instructions.
• Always follow these rules before and during work.
- Remove the engine cover. Refer to => [ Engine Cover ] Engine Cover.
- Remove the charge air hose by loosening the clamp - 3 -.
- Remove the bolts - 2 - and disconnect the connector - 4 -.
- Remove the throttle valve control module - 5 -.
• Ignore - 1 -.
- Remove the bolts - arrows - for the clamps.
- Loosen the union nuts - 1 and 4 - and remove the high pressure fuel line.
• Ignore - 2 and 3 -.
- Remove the ball studs - 1 and 2 -.
- Remove the bolts - arrows - and the upper intake manifold.
Installing
Install in the reverse order of removal. Note the following:
• For tightening specifications, refer => [ Intake Manifold Overview ] Intake Manifold Overview.
• Replace seals and sealing rings.
• Hose connections and charge air system hoses must be free of oil and grease before installing.
• Secure all hose connections using hose clamps appropriate for the model type. Refer to the Parts Catalog.
• To install the charge air hoses securely, spray the bolts on the used clamps with rust remover before installing.
- Install the high pressure line. Refer to => [ High Pressure Lines, Installing ] Service and Repair.
