Lower Intake Manifold, Left Side

Removing

Follow the guidelines for a clean working environment when working on the fuel system. Refer to => [ Clean Working Conditions and Fuel System Work Instructions ] Clean Working Conditions and Fuel System Work Instructions.

Always follow these rules before and during work.

- Remove the engine cover. Refer to => [ Engine Cover ] Engine Cover.

- Remove the upper intake manifold. Refer to => [ Upper Intake Manifold ] Upper Intake Manifold.

- Carefully remove the intake flap motor 2 connecting rod - arrow -.






- Disconnect the connector - 1 -.

- Remove the bolts - 3 - and then remove the intake flap motor 2 - 4 -.

- Disconnect the glow plug connectors from cylinders 4, 5 and 6.

- Remove the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) cooler switch-over valve - 1 - from the bracket.






- Remove the bolt - 4 -.

- Loosen the clamp - arrow - and remove the EGR pipe - 1 -.






- Remove the bolts - arrows -.






- Remove the lower intake manifold carefully.

Seal the intake passages in the cylinder head using a clean cloth.

Installing

Tightening specifications, refer to => [ Intake Manifold Overview ] Intake Manifold Overview.

Install in the reverse order of removal. Note the following:

Replace seals and sealing rings.

- Install the intake flap motor 2. Refer to => [ Intake Manifold Overview ] Intake Manifold Overview.

- Install the upper intake manifold. Refer to => [ Upper Intake Manifold ] Upper Intake Manifold.

- Install the high pressure lines. Refer to => [ High Pressure Lines, Installing ] Service and Repair.

- Inspect the fuel system for leaks. Refer to => [ Fuel System, Checking for Leaks ] Fuel System, Checking for Leaks.
