Sealing Flange and Flywheel Assembly Overview
Servicing Clutch
• Vehicles with manual transmission.
• Vehicles with DSG transmission, refer to --> Automatic Transmission Removal and Installation. Automatic Transmission/Transaxle
1 Seal
• Do not additionally oil or grease sealing lip of oil seal
• Before installing, remove oil remains from crankshaft journal with a clean cloth
• Seal for crankshaft - ribbed belt side, replacing --> [ Crankshaft Seal, Belt Pulley Side ] Service and Repair.
2 Sealing Flange
• Must be located on dowel sleeves
• Removing and installing, refer to --> [ Sealing Flange, Belt Pulley Side ] Service and Repair.
• Insert with silicone sealant (D 176 404 A2) --> [ Sealing Flange, Belt Pulley Side ] Service and Repair.
3 Cylinder block
• Piston and connecting rod, refer to --> [ Pistons and Connecting Rod Assembly Overview ] Service and Repair.
• Crankshaft, refer to --> [ Crankshaft Dimensions ] Specifications.
4 60 Nm plus an additional 1/4 turn (90°)
• Replace
5 Flywheel
• Secure flywheel with counterhold tool (3067) to loosen and tighten the bolts
6 Intermediate Plate
• Must be located on dowel sleeves
• Do not damage or bend when doing assembly work
7 15 Nm
8 Sealing Flange with Seal
• With the engine speed sensor (G28) sensor wheel
• Only replaced as complete unit
• Do not additionally oil or grease sealing lip of oil seal
• Before installing, remove oil remains from crankshaft journal with a clean cloth
• Use support sleeve provided to install

9 Engine speed sensor (G28), 5 Nm
• Removing and installing, refer to --> [ Engine Speed Sensor ] Service and Repair.
