Installing

Note the expiration date of the sealant.

The sealing flange must be installed within 5 minutes after applying the silicone sealant.

- Cut tube nozzle at front marking (nozzle dia. approximately 3 mm).

The sealing compound bead must not be thicker than 2-3 mm or the excess compound could enter the oil pan and block the oil suction pipe strainer. It could also drip onto the sealing surface of the crankshaft seal.

Before applying the bead of sealant, cover the sealing surface of the seal with a clean rag.

- Apply silicone sealant to the clean sealing surface of the sealing flange as illustrated. The sealing compound bead must be:

2 to 3 mm thick

And run on inside of bolt holes - arrows -

- Install sealing flange immediately and tighten all bolts lightly.

To position sealing flange with sealing ring installed, use guide sleeve (T10053/1).

- Tighten sealing flange bolts in a diagonal sequence:

Tightening specifications, refer to --> [ item 7, 15 Nm ] Service and Repair.

- Install crankshaft toothed belt sprocket:

Tightening specifications, refer to --> [ item 2, 120 Nm plus an additional / turn (90°) ] Toothed Belt Drive Assembly Overview.

- Install oil pan. Refer to --> [ Oil Pan ] Service and Repair.

After installing, allow the sealant to dry for approximately 30 minutes. Only after then may the engine oil be replenished.
