INTERIOR PANELS / TRIM: LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL: REMOVAL
1. TABLE OF BOLT, SCREW AND NUT
HINT
All bolts, screws and nuts relevant to installing and removing the instrument panel are shown along with their alphabetical code in the table below.
2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
NOTICE:
When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Repair Instruction - Initialization.
3. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY

4. REMOVE UPPER INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY
Removal
5. REMOVE REAR CONSOLE BOX SUB-ASSEMBLY
Removal
6. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER Removal
7. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH Removal
8. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH Removal
9. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP LH
(a) Remove part of the front door opening trim weatherstrip so that the cowl side trim board and lower instrument panel can be removed.
10. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP RH
HINT
Use the same procedure described for the LH side.
11. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM BOARD LH Removal
12. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM BOARD RH Removal
13. REMOVE NO. 2 RADIO BRACKET
(a) Remove the 2 bolts and No. 2 radio bracket.
HINT
If the vehicle is equipped with a radio receiver, remove the 4 bolts, disconnect each connector and remove the No. 2 radio bracket and radio receiver as a single unit.
14. REMOVE NO. 1 RADIO BRACKET
(a) Remove the 2 bolts and No. 1 radio bracket.
HINT
If the vehicle is equipped with a radio receiver, remove the 4 bolts, disconnect each connector and remove the No. 1 radio bracket and radio receiver as a single unit.
15. REMOVE NO. 1 SWITCH HOLE BASE
(a) w/ Smart Key System:
(1) Detach the 5 claws.
(2) Disconnect the connector and remove the No. 1 switch hole base.
(b) w/o Smart Key System:
(1) Detach the 5 claws and remove the No. 1 switch hole base.
16. REMOVE FUSE BOX OPENING COVER
(a) Detach the 8 claws and remove the fuse box opening cover.
17. REMOVE LOWER NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL AIRBAG ASSEMBLY Removal
18. REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT SIDE PANEL RH
(a) Put protective tape around the glove compartment side panel.
(b) Using a screwdriver, detach the 2 claws and remove the glove compartment side panel.
HINT
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

(a) Remove the 7 bolts [A] and 4 screws [C].
(b) Remove the 2 bolts [B].
(c) Detach the 4 clamps and disconnect the cable.
(d) Detach the 4 claws and remove the lower instrument panel.
