BRAKE SYSTEM (OTHER): BRAKE BOOSTER: REMOVAL

NOTICE:
Make sure to release the vacuum from the brake booster before removing the master cylinder from the brake booster.

1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

NOTICE:
When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Repair Instruction - Initialization.

2. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL

3. REMOVE CENTER COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER Service and Repair

4. DRAIN BRAKE FLUID

NOTICE:
Wash off brake fluid immediately if it comes in contact with any painted surface.

5. REMOVE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY

Removal

6. REMOVE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER SUB-ASSEMBLY

Removal

7. DISCONNECT BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER PUSH ROD CLEVIS Removal

8. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR ASSEMBLY

Removal

9. REMOVE OUTER COWL TOP PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Disconnect the wire harness of the windshield wiper motor from the cowl top panel sub-assembly.

(b) Remove the 9 bolts and outer cowl top panel sub-assembly.





10. DISCONNECT VACUUM HOSE

(a) Slide the clip and disconnect the vacuum hose.





11. REMOVE BRAKE VACUUM CHECK VALVE ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the vacuum check valve assembly from the brake booster assembly.

12. REMOVE CHECK VALVE GROMMET

(a) Remove the check valve grommet from the brake booster assembly.

13. REMOVE FRONT BRAKE LINE

(a) Using a union nut wrench, disconnect the brake tube from the brake flexible hose LH while holding the flexible hose with a wrench.





(b) Remove the bolt and clamp from the body.

(c) Using a union nut wrench, disconnect the brake tube from the brake flexible hose RH while holding the flexible hose with a wrench.





(d) Detach the grommet from the body.





(e) Detach the 2 brake tube clamps from the body.





NOTICE:
The clamp cannot be reused after it is detached from the body.

(f) Using a union nut wrench, disconnect the 2 brake tubes from the 2-way.





(g) Detach the brake tube clamp from the brake actuator bracket.





NOTICE:
The clamp cannot be reused after it is detached from the bracket.

14. REMOVE BRAKE BOOSTER ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the 4 nuts and brake booster assembly from the body.





NOTICE:
Do not damage the brake lines or fuel lines.

15. REMOVE BRAKE BOOSTER GASKET

(a) Remove the brake booster gasket from the brake booster assembly.

16. REMOVE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER PUSH ROD CLEVIS

(a) Loosen the lock nut and remove the brake master cylinder push rod clevis and lock nut from the brake booster assembly.
