AIR CONDITIONING: AIR CONDITIONING UNIT: INSTALLATION

INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL BLOWER ASSEMBLY

(a) Install the blower unit with the 3 screws as shown in the illustration.
2. INSTALL NO. 3 AIR DUCT SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Engage the 2 claws and install the air duct.
3. INSTALL NO. 2 AIR DUCT SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Engage the 2 claws and install the air duct.

4. TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN AIR CONDITIONING UNIT
(a) Temporarily tighten the air conditioning unit with the bolt and the nut.

NOTICE:
- Be sure to support the air conditioning unit assembly when removing it because failure to do so may cause the bracket of the air conditioning unit assembly to break.
- When installing the air conditioning unit, eliminate static electricity by touching the vehicle body to prevent the components from being damaged.

5. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL REINFORCEMENT ASSEMBLY (for Manual Transaxle)
(a) Install the instrument panel reinforcement with the 7 bolts.

6. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL REINFORCEMENT ASSEMBLY (for Automatic Transaxle)
(a) Install the instrument panel reinforcement with the 6 bolts.

7. INSTALL AIR CONDITIONING UNIT

(a) Install the 3 bolts.
Torque: 9.8 Nm (100 kgf-cm, 87 in-lbf)
HINT: Tighten the bolts in the order shown in the illustration.

(b) Install the air conditioning unit with the bolt and nut.
Torque: 9.8 Nm (100 kgf-cm, 87 in-lbf)
8. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE
(a) Connect the connectors.
(b) Engage the clamps.

(d) Install the wiring harness protector.

(1) Engage the clamp and install the wiring harness protector.
(2) Install the bolt.
(e) Install the No. 4 junction block.
(1) Engage the clamp and install the No. 4 junction block.
(2) Install the bolt.
(f) Install the No. 3 junction block.
(1) Engage the clamp and install the No. 3 junction block.
(2) Install the bolt.
(g) Install the connector holder.
(1) Install the connector holder with the 2 bolts.
(h) Install the main body ECU.
(1) Install the main body ECU with the 2 bolts.
(2) Engage the 2 clamps.
(3) Connect the 5 connectors.
9. CONNECT DRAIN COOLER HOSE

(a) Connect the drain cooler hose into the position shown in the illustration.

NOTICE:
- Install the drain cooker hose with the positioning mark facing up.
- Make sure that the drain hose is not twisted or damaged.

10. INSTALL POWER STEERING ECU ASSEMBLY

(a) Install the power steering ECU with the bolt and 2 nuts.
Torque: 8.0 Nm (82 kgf-cm, 71 in-lbf)
(b) Connect the 2 connectors.
11. INSTALL REAR NO. 2 AIR DUCT

(a) Engage the 4 claws and install the rear air duct.
12. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL BRACE SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Install the instrument panel brace with the 2 bolts, 2 screws and 2 nuts.
Torque: 9.8 Nm (100 kgf-cm, 87 in-lbf)for Screw

(b) Engage the 7 clamps.
13. INSTALL RELAY BLOCK ASSEMBLY

(a) Install the relay block and with the 2 screws.
14. INSTALL NO. 1 AIR DUCT SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Install the air duct with the 2 nuts.
Torque: 9.8 Nm (100 kgf-cm, 87 in-lbf)
15. INSTALL CENTER INSTRUMENT PANEL TO COWL BRACE

(a) Install the center instrument panel to cowl brace with the 2 bolts.
16. INSTALL LOWER DEFROSTER NOZZLE ASSEMBLY

(a) Engage the 6 claws and install the lower defroster nozzle.
17. INSTALL REAR NO. 1 AIR DUCT

(a) Engage the 2 claws to install the rear air duct.

(b) Engage the clip and install the floor carpet.
18. INSTALL REAR NO. 3 AIR DUCT

(a) Engage the 2 claws to install the rear air duct.

(b) Engage the clip and install the floor carpet.
19. INSTALL STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY Installation
20. TURN FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD
21. CONNECT NO. 2 STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY Installation
22. INSTALL COLUMN HOLE COVER SILENCER SHEET Installation
23. TURN FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD
24. INSTALL TURN SIGNAL SWITCH ASSEMBLY WITH SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY Installation
25. INSTALL STEERING COLUMN COVER Installation
26. ADJUST SPIRAL CABLE Installation

68. CONNECT HEATER OUTLET WATER HOSE

(a) Install the heater water outlet hose onto the heater unit.
NOTICE: Perform the installation with the hose clip and mark at the correct angle.

69. CONNECT HEATER INLET WATER HOSE

(a) Install the heater water inlet hose onto the heater unit.
NOTICE: Perform the installation with the hose clip and mark at the correct angle.

70. INSTALL AIR CONDITIONING TUBE AND ACCESSORY ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the vinyl tape from air conditioning tube and the connecting portion of the unit.
(b) Apply sufficient compressor oil (ND-OIL8) to a new O-ring and the connecting part of the liquid tube.
Compressor oil:
ND-OIL8 or equivalent
(c) Install the O-ring onto the air conditioning tube.
(d) Connect the air conditioning tube to the unit.
71. INSTALL SUCTION PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the vinyl tape from the suction pipe and the connecting part of the unit.
(b) Apply sufficient compressor oil (ND-OIL8) to a new O-ring and the connecting part of suction pipe.
Compressor oil:
ND-OIL8 or equivalent
(c) Install the O-ring onto the suction pipe.

(d) Turn the hook connector in the direction indicated by the arrow in the illustration.
(e) Insert the pipe joints securely into the fitting holes and tighten the bolt.
Torque: 9.8 Nm (100 kgf-cm, 87 in-lbf)
72. CHARGE WITH REFRIGERANT Service and Repair
73. ADD ENGINE COOLANT Service and Repair
74. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
Torque: 5.4 Nm (55 kgf-cm, 48 in-lbf)
75. INSPECT FOR COOLANT LEAK Testing and Inspection
76. INITIALIZE ROTATION ANGLE SENSOR AND CALIBRATE TORQUE SENSOR ZERO POINT
