Removal





1UR-FSE ENGINE MECHANICAL: ENGINE ASSEMBLY: REMOVAL

1. PLACE FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD

2. DISCHARGE REFRIGERANT FROM REFRIGERATION SYSTEM Service and Repair

3. DISCHARGE FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE Removal

4. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION:
Wait for 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable to prevent the airbag working Service Precautions.

NOTICE:
When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Repair Instruction - Initialization.

5. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL

6. REMOVE V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Hold the front of the V-bank cover sub-assembly and raise it to disengage the 2 clips on the front of the cover. Continue to raise the cover to disengage the 2 clips on the rear of the cover and remove the V-bank cover sub-assembly.





NOTICE:
Attempting to disengage both front and rear clips at the same time may cause the cover to break.

7. REMOVE COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL

(a) Remove the 7 clips and cool air intake duct seal.





8. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH

(a) Remove the 3 clips and engine room side cover LH.





9. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER RH

(a) Remove the 3 clips and engine room side cover RH.





10. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER

11. REMOVE REAR ENGINE UNDER COVER LH

12. REMOVE REAR ENGINE UNDER COVER RH

13. REMOVE NO. 2 ENGINE UNDER COVER

14. REMOVE FRONT LOWER SUSPENSION MEMBER PROTECTOR

15. DRAIN ENGINE OIL Replacement

16. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT Service and Repair

17. DRAIN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID Removal

18. REMOVE NO. 1 AIR CLEANER INLET

(a) Remove the bolt and No. 1 air cleaner inlet.





19. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Disconnect the MAF meter connector.





(b) Disconnect the 2 clamps and 2 ventilation hoses.

(c) Remove the bolt and loosen the hose clamp bolt.

(d) Remove the 4 clamps and disconnect the air cleaner cap sub-assembly.

(e) Remove the air cleaner filter element.

20. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CASE SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the 3 bolts and air cleaner case sub-assembly.





21. DISCONNECT NO. 1 RADIATOR HOSE

(a) Disconnect the No. 1 radiator hose.





22. DISCONNECT NO. 2 RADIATOR HOSE

(a) Disconnect the No. 2 radiator hose.





23. DISCONNECT NO. 1 OIL COOLER INLET HOSE

(a) Disconnect the No. 1 oil cooler inlet hose.





24. DISCONNECT NO. 1 OIL COOLER OUTLET HOSE

(a) Disconnect the No. 1 oil cooler outlet hose.

25. DISCONNECT HEATER WATER HOSE INLET

(a) Disconnect the heater inlet water hose.





26. DISCONNECT HEATER WATER HOSE OUTLET

(a) Disconnect the heater outlet water hose.

27. DISCONNECT NO. 2 FUEL VAPOR FEED HOSE

(a) Disconnect the No. 2 fuel vapor feed hose.





28. DISCONNECT NO. 3 FUEL HOSE

(a) Remove the 2 fuel pipe clamp.





(b) Pinch the fuel tube connector and then pull out the No. 3 fuel hose.





NOTICE:
* Check for any dirt and foreign matter contamination in the pipe and around the connector. Clean if necessary. Foreign matter may damage the O-rings or cause leaks in the seal between the pipe and connector.
* Do not use any tools to separate the pipe and connector.
* Do not forcefully bend or twist the nylon tube.
* Check for any dirt and foreign matter on the pipe seal surface. Clean if necessary.
* Put the pipe and connector ends in plastic bags to prevent damage and dirt contamination.
* If the pipe and connector are stuck together, pinch the tube between your fingers and turn it carefully to free it. Then disconnect the hose.

29. DISCONNECT NO. 1 FUEL PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the 2 fuel pipe clamp.





(b) Pinch the 2 fuel tube connector and then pull out the No. 1 fuel pipe sub-assembly.





NOTICE:
* Check for any dirt and foreign matter contamination in the pipe and around the connector. Clean if necessary. Foreign matter may damage the O-rings or cause leaks in the seal between the pipe and connector.
* Do not use any tools to separate the pipe and connector.
* Do not forcefully bend or twist the nylon tube.
* Check for any dirt and foreign matter on the pipe seal surface. Clean if necessary.
* Put the pipe and connector ends in plastic bags to prevent damage and dirt contamination.
* If the pipe and connector are stuck together, pinch the tube between your fingers and turn it carefully to free it. Then disconnect the hose.

(c) Lift up the retainer to release its lock.





(d) Pinch the 2 fuel tube connectors and then pull out the No. 1 fuel pipe sub-assembly.

NOTICE:
* Check for any dirt and foreign matter contamination in the pipe and around the connector. Clean if necessary. Foreign matter may damage the O-rings or cause leaks in the seal between the pipe and connector.
* Do not use any tools to separate the pipe and connector.
* Do not forcefully bend or twist the nylon tube.
* Check for any dirt and foreign matter on the pipe seal surface. Clean if necessary.
* Put the pipe and connector ends in plastic bags to prevent damage and dirt contamination.
* If the pipe and connector are stuck together, pinch the tube between your fingers and turn it carefully to free it. Then disconnect the hose.

30. DISCONNECT NO. 1 COOLER REFRIGERANT SUCTION HOSE Removal

31. DISCONNECT DISCHARGE HOSE SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

32. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM ECU COVER Removal

33. DISCONNECT WIRE HARNESS

(a) Remove the 3 connectors and connector clamp.





(b) Detach the claw and disconnect the No. 4 connector holder.





(c) Disconnect the 5 connectors from the ECM box.





(d) Remove the nut, and disconnect the battery positive (+) cable and clamp from the battery.





(e) Remove the nut.





(f) Disconnect the clamp, detach the 2 claws and disconnect the wire harness from the No. 1 relay block.





(g) Remove the bolt, and disconnect the clamp and ground cable.





(h) Remove the bolt and disconnect the ground cable.





(i) Disconnect the power steering wire harness.

(1) Disconnect the 2 connectors (A).





(2) Release the lock of the connector and disconnect the connector (B).

(3) Disconnect the 2 clamps.

(4) Remove the bolt and disconnect the ground cable (C).

34. REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the front exhaust pipe assembly Removal.

35. REMOVE REAR PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the rear propeller shaft assembly Removal

36. DISCONNECT FRONT ACTIVE STABILIZER CONTROL ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY (w/ Active Stabilizer System) Removal

37. DISCONNECT FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER ASSEMBLY LH Removal

38. DISCONNECT FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER ASSEMBLY RH

HINT
Perform the same procedure for the LH side.

39. DISCONNECT FRONT LOWER BALL JOINT ASSEMBLY LH Removal

40. DISCONNECT FRONT LOWER BALL JOINT ASSEMBLY RH

HINT
Perform the same procedure for the LH side.

41. DISCONNECT HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR LINK SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

42. REMOVE STEERING SLIDING YOKE SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

43. REMOVE STEERING ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the steering actuator assembly Removal.

44. DISCONNECT FLOOR SHIFT GEAR SHIFTING ROD SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

45. REMOVE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

(a) Set the engine lifter.

(b) Remove the 4 bolts and disconnect the rear engine mounting member.





(c) Remove the 10 bolts and 2 nuts shown in the illustration.





(d) Operate the engine lifter, then slowly remove the engine from the vehicle.

NOTICE:
* Make sure that the engine is clear of all wiring and hose.
* While lowering the engine from the vehicle, do not allow it to contact the vehicle.

(e) Install the 2 No. 1 engine hangers with the 2 bolts as shown in the illustration.





Engine hanger part No.:





Torque : 43 Nm (438 kgf-cm, 32 ft-lbf)

(f) Attach an engine sling device and hang the engine with a chain block.





NOTICE:
When hanging the engine, make sure to hang the engine with the sling device's hanging angle at 50° or less. Otherwise, the engine or engine hangers may be damaged.

46. REMOVE ENGINE OIL LEVEL DIPSTICK GUIDE

(a) Remove the engine oil level dipstick.

(b) Remove the bolt and engine oil level dipstick guide.





47. REMOVE NO. 2 EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR Removal

48. REMOVE NO. 1 EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR Removal

49. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD SUB-ASSEMBLY LH Removal

50. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD SUB-ASSEMBLY RH Removal

51. REMOVE NO. 3 EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR Removal

52. REMOVE V-RIBBED BELT Removal

53. REMOVE ENGINE WIRE

54. SEPARATE OIL COOLER TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

55. REMOVE COMPRESSOR AND PULLEY

(a) Remove the 2 bolts and 2 nuts.





(b) Using an E8 "TORX" socket, remove the 2 stud bolts and compressor.





56. REMOVE GENERATOR ASSEMBLY Removal

57. REMOVE STARTER ASSEMBLY Removal

58. REMOVE DRIVE PLATE AND TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH SETTING BOLT Removal

59. REMOVE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY Removal

60. REMOVE REAR ENGINE MOUNTING MEMBER

(a) Remove the 4 nuts and rear engine mounting member.





61. REMOVE REAR ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR ASSEMBLY Removal

62. REMOVE DRIVE PLATE AND RING GEAR SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Using SST, hold the crankshaft.

SST : 09330-00021

(b) Remove the 10 bolts, drive plate spacer RR, drive plate and ring gear sub-assembly and crankshaft angle sensor rotor.





63. REMOVE FRONT SUSPENSION CROSSMEMBER SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the 2 nuts, then remove the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly from the engine.





64. REMOVE FRONT ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR

(a) Remove the 2 engine mounting spacers.

(b) Remove the 2 nuts and 2 front engine mounting insulators from the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly.
