PARKING BRAKE: PARKING BRAKE CABLE: REMOVAL

REMOVAL
HINT:
- Use the same procedures for the No. 2 and No. 3 parking brake cables.
- The procedures listed below are for the No. 1 and No. 3 parking brake cables.

1. FOLLOW PRECAUTION
(a) Follow the precaution Service Precautions.
2. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR BRACE CENTER Removal
3. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER BRACE REAR LOWER LH
4. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER BRACE REAR LOWER RH
5. DISCONNECT HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR Removal
6. REMOVE EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY Removal
7. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE CABLE HEAT INSULATOR Removal
8. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR NO. 1 HEAT INSULATOR Removal
9. DISCONNECT FLOOR SHIFT GEAR SHIFTING ROD SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal
10. DISCONNECT NO. 1 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY





(a) Remove the 2 bolts and intermediate lever support bracket from the floor panel.
(b) Remove the clip and pin.
(c) Disconnect the cable from the intermediate lever.
11. SET RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY TO SHIPMENT MODE Removal
12. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

13. REMOVE DOOR SCUFF PLATE ASSEMBLY LH Removal
14. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM COVER LH Removal
15. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal
16. REMOVE LOWER NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL AIR BAG ASSEMBLY Removal
17. REMOVE REAR CONSOLE UPPER PANEL GARNISH Removal
18. REMOVE UPPER CONSOLE PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal
19. REMOVE AIR CONDITIONER CONTROL ASSEMBLY Removal
20. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY LOWER CENTER
21. CONFIRM RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY SET TO SHIPMENT MODE Removal
22. REMOVE DOOR SCUFF PLATE ASSEMBLY RH Removal
23. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM COVER RH Removal
24. REMOVE NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal
25. REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR ASSEMBLY Removal
26. REMOVE LOWER NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL AIR BAG ASSEMBLY Removal
27. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX CARPET
28. REMOVE NO. 3 BOX PANEL Removal
29. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY Removal
30. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE CONTROL PEDAL ASSEMBLY Removal
31. REMOVE FLOOR SHIFT ASSEMBLY Removal
32. REMOVE NO. 1 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY





(a) Remove the 4 nuts, 2 bolts and cable.
33. REMOVE REAR WHEEL
34. DISCONNECT REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY LH Removal
35. REMOVE REAR DISC Disassembly
36. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE STRUT LH Disassembly
37. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE ADJUSTING SCREW SET Disassembly
38. REMOVE NO. 1 PARKING BRAKE SHOE ASSEMBLY LH Disassembly
39. REMOVE NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE SHOE ASSEMBLY LH Disassembly
40. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE LEVER LH Disassembly
41. DISCONNECT NO. 3 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY





(a) Remove the 2 bolts, and then disconnect the cable from the backing plate.
42. REMOVE NO. 3 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the 3 bolts and disconnect the cable from the vehicle body.





(b) Disconnect the cable from the clamp.
(c) Disconnect the cable from the intermediate lever, and then remove the cable.
(d) Remove the 2 brackets from the cable.
