ATF Cooler and ATF Pipes Overview
• General repair instructions, refer to => [ Repair Information ] Repair Information.
• Clean working conditions for the automatic transmission, refer to => [ Clean Working Conditions ] Clean Working Conditions.
• Seal any open lines and connections with a clean plug from the engine bung set (VAS 6122).
• Check ATF level after replacing ATF pipes, refer to => [ ATF, Checking Level and Correcting ] ATF, Checking Level and Correcting.
There is a risk of damaging the transmission.
• Remove all the plugs on the ATF pipes and on the transmission that were installed during removal.
• The ATF cooling function will not work and the transmission will be damaged if the plugs are forgotten.

2 O-ring
• Replace
• Coat with ATF before installing
3 ATF Cooler
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ ATF Cooler ] Service and Repair
4 Bolt
• 8 Nm
5 O-ring
• Replace
• Coat with ATF before installing
6 Clip
7 O-ring
• Replace
• Coat with ATF before installing
8 ATF Pipe
• Cleaning, refer to => [ Automatic Transmission Fluid Lines, Cleaning ] Service and Repair
• Install all the way by hand with new O-rings.
9 Bolt
• 20 Nm
• First insert the ATF pipes with new O-rings by hand as far as the stop
• The retaining tab on the lower ATF pipe must lie on the transmission threads
• The retaining tab on the upper ATF pipe must touch the lower one.
10 Bolt
• 8 Nm
11 O-ring
• Replace
• Coat with ATF before installing
12 ATF line
• Cleaning, refer to => [ Automatic Transmission Fluid Lines, Cleaning ] Service and Repair
• Install all the way by hand with new O-rings.
13 Bolt
• 8 Nm
