Mounting Bracket

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Hose Clamps Up to 25 mm Dia. (3094)

• Hose Clamp Pliers (VAS 6340)

Removing


Observe procedures for disconnecting battery.

- Move driver seat toward the rear.

- With ignition switched off, disconnect Battery Ground (GND) cable - arrow -.






- Remove battery.

Vehicles with an air filter housing in front of the battery

- Remove the entire air filter housing.

- Remove the battery carrier - arrows -.






• While performing the following work, make sure that no brake fluid comes into contact with longitudinal member or with transmission. If this happens, these areas must be cleaned thoroughly.

- Clamp off the clutch master cylinder supply hose with a (3094).






- Loosen the spring clamp - 3 - using (VAS 6340) and remove the clutch master cylinder supply hose.






- Open the clip - 2 - with a screwdriver and remove either the hose/line assembly - 1 - or the plastic hose from the clutch master cylinder.

- Remove the clutch position sensor (G476) from the clutch master cylinder - arrow - and disconnect the connector - 4 -.

- Remove the driver side storage compartment.






- Remove bolt - arrow A - and remove left front footwell vent - 1 -.

- Unclip wiring guide behind footwell vent - 1 - and lay aside.

- Remove the crash brace - 2 - (if equipped) - depending on the design, it is attached by one or two bolts - arrows B -.

• When performing work in the footwell, place rags on the carpet to protect it from possible brake fluid spills.

- Remove nuts - 2 -.






- Remove mounting bracket - 1 -.

Installing

• Tightening specification. Refer to => [ Pedal Assembly and Clutch Master Cylinder Overview ] Pedal Assembly and Clutch Master Cylinder Overview.

Install in reverse order, paying attention to the following:

• Replace self-locking nuts.

• Secure all hose connections with hose clamps of the same type as those equipped by the factory, refer to the Parts Catalog.

- Insert mounting bracket - 1 - and tighten nuts - 2 -.

- Install the either the hose/line assembly of the plastic hose. Refer to => [ Hose/Line Assembly or Plastic Hose ] Service and Repair.

- Bleed the clutch system. Refer to => [ Clutch System, Bleeding ] Service and Repair.

- Install the crash brace, if equipped. Refer to => [ Crash Brace - Tightening Specification ] Pedal Assembly and Clutch Master Cylinder Overview.

- Install the left front footwell vent.

- Install the driver side storage compartment.

- Install the battery tray and the battery.

- Install the air filter housing.
