Front Wheel Suspension, Lower Control Arm and Upper Control Arm Overview
• Welding and straightening work on supporting or wheel carrying components of the suspension is not permitted.
• Always replace self-locking nuts.
• Always replace corroded bolts/nuts.
• Bonded rubber bushings can only be turned to a limited extent. Therefore, the threaded connections of the components with bonded rubber bushings should only be tightened when the wheel bearing housing is lifted (curb weight position). Refer to => [ Front Axle, Lifting to Curb Weight Position ] Front Axle, Lifting to Curb Weight Position.

• 60 Nm
• Quantity: 3
2 Ring
3 Front Body
4 Bolts
• 50 Nm + 180° turn
• Always replace if removed.
5 Bonded Rubber Mount
• Replacing, refer to => [ Upper Control Arm Bonded Rubber Bushing ] Upper Control Arm Bonded Rubber Bushing.
• For the correct allocation, refer to the Electronic Parts Catalog (ETKA).
6 Nut
• 50 Nm + 180° turn
• Always replace if removed.
7 Upper Control Arm
• Removal and installation, vehicles with steel spring shock absorber, refer to => [ Upper Control Arm, Vehicles with a Steel Spring Shock Absorber ] Upper Control Arm, Vehicles with a Steel Spring Shock Absorber.
• Removal and installation, vehicles with air spring shock absorber, refer to => [ Upper Control Arm, Vehicles with an Air Spring Shock Absorber ] Upper Control Arm, Vehicles with an Air Spring Shock Absorber.
• The cone must be free of oil and grease.
• If necessary, clean using dry rag, do not use cleaning agents.
8 Nut
• 85 Nm
• Always replace if removed.
9 Wheel Bearing Housing
• Different versions for 17" and 18" suspension.
• Removing and Installing, refer to => [ Wheel Bearing Housing ] Wheel Bearing Housing.
• Conical bores must be free of grease and oil.
• If necessary, clean using dry rag, do not use cleaning agents.
• For the correct allocation, refer to the Electronic Parts Catalog (ETKA).
10 Nut
• Various versions
• For the correct allocation, refer to the Electronic Parts Catalog (ETKA).
• Always replace if removed.
• Pay attention to the different tightening specifications:
• 17" suspension (cast steel): 110 Nm
• 18" suspension (cast aluminum): 130 Nm
11 Bonded Rubber Mount
• Pressing in and out (spring shock absorber connection), refer to => [ Lower Control Arm Bonded Rubber Bushing, Spring Shock Absorber Connection ] Lower Control Arm Bonded Rubber Bushing, Spring Shock Absorber Connection.
• For the correct allocation, refer to the Electronic Parts Catalog (ETKA).
12 Bonded Rubber Mount
• Pressing in and out (camber adjustment bolt connection), refer to => [ Lower Control Arm Bonded Rubber Bushing, Camber Adjusting Bolt Connection ] Lower Control Arm Bonded Rubber Bushing, Camber Adjusting Bolt Connection.
• For the correct allocation, refer to the Electronic Parts Catalog (ETKA).
13 Lower Control Arm
• Conical pin must be free of grease and oil.
• If necessary, clean using dry rag, do not use cleaning agents.

14 Bonded Rubber Mount
• Pressing in and out (caster adjustment bolt connection), refer to => [ Lower Control Arm Bonded Rubber Bushing, Caster Adjusting Bolt Connection ] Lower Control Arm Bonded Rubber Bushing, Caster Adjusting Bolt Connection.

15 Nut
• 150 Nm + 90° turn
• Always replace if removed.
16 Bolt
• Always replace if removed.
17 Steel Spring Shock Absorber

18 Nut
• 110 Nm
• Always replace if removed.
19 Bolt
