SUSPENSION: FRONT LOWER SUSPENSION ARM (for AWD): INSTALLATION

HINT
* Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
* The procedures listed below are for the LH side.
* A bolt without a torque specification is shown in the standard bolt chart Standard Bolt - Specified Torque For Standard Bolts.

1. TEMPORARILY INSTALL FRONT SUSPENSION LOWER ARM ASSEMBLY LH

(a) Temporarily install the front suspension lower arm LH, and insert the camber adjusting cam from the rear of the vehicle.

(b) Install the No. 2 camber adjusting cam and temporarily install the nut.

HINT
After stabilizing the suspension, tighten the nut.

(c) Align the matchmarks of the camber adjusting cam, No. 2 camber adjusting cam and front frame assembly.

2. CONNECT LOWER FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER BRACKET SUB-ASSEMBLY LH

(a) Connect the front shock absorber lower bracket to the front suspension lower arm LH.

(b) Align the protrusion of the front shock absorber upper bracket plate with the cutout of the front shock absorber lower bracket, and temporarily install the plate with the nut.

HINT
After stabilizing the suspension, tighten the nut.

3. INSTALL FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY LH Installation

4. INSTALL FRONT LOWER BALL JOINT ASSEMBLY LH

(a) Install the front lower ball joint LH to the front suspension lower arm with the nut.

Torque : 145 Nm (1479 kgf-cm, 107 ft-lbf)

NOTICE:
If it is necessary to align the holes for the clips after installing the nuts, the nuts can be tightened up to 60° more.

(b) Install a new clip.

5. INSTALL STEERING KNUCKLE LH Installation

6. CONNECT FRONT NO. 1 SUSPENSION UPPER ARM ASSEMBLY LH Installation

7. CONNECT FRONT NO. 2 SUSPENSION UPPER ARM ASSEMBLY LH Installation

8. CONNECT TIE ROD ASSEMBLY LH Installation

9. INSTALL FRONT SPEED SENSOR LH Installation

10. CONNECT SKID CONTROL SENSOR WIRE Installation

11. TEMPORARILY INSTALL FRONT NO. 2 SUSPENSION LOWER ARM LH

(a) Temporarily install the front No. 2 suspension lower arm LH, and insert the toe adjusting cam from the rear of the vehicle.

(b) Install the bolt, No. 2 toe adjusting plate and temporarily install the nut.

HINT
After stabilizing the suspension, tighten the nut.

(c) Align the matchmarks of the camber adjusting cam, No. 2 camber adjusting cam and front frame assembly.

(d) Connect the front suspension lower arm LH to the front lower ball joint with the nut.

Torque : 145 Nm (1479 kgf-cm, 107 ft-lbf)

NOTICE:
If it is necessary to align the holes for the clips after installing the nuts, the nuts can be tightened up to 60° more.

(e) Install a new clip.

12. CONNECT FRONT HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY LH Installation

13. INSTALL FRONT DISC BRAKE DUST COVER LH Installation

14. INSTALL FRONT DISC Installation

15. CONNECT FRONT DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY LH Installation

16. INSTALL FRONT AXLE SHAFT NUT LH

(a) Clean the threaded parts on the drive shaft and axle shaft nut using a non-residue solvent.

NOTICE:
* Be sure to perform this work for a new drive shaft.
* Keep the threaded parts free of oil and foreign objects.

(b) Using a 30 mm socket wrench, install a new axle shaft nut.

Torque : 294 Nm (2998 kgf-cm, 217 ft-lbf)

(c) Using a chisel and hammer, stake the front axle shaft nut.

17. STABILIZE SUSPENSION (w/ Air Suspension) Installation

18. STABILIZE SUSPENSION (w/o Air Suspension) Installation

19. TIGHTEN FRONT SUSPENSION LOWER ARM ASSEMBLY LH

(a) Tighten the nut of the lower front shock absorber bracket.

Torque : 112 Nm (1142 kgf-cm, 83 ft-lbf)

21. TIGHTEN FRONT NO. 2 SUSPENSION LOWER ARM LH

(a) Tighten the nut of the front No. 2 suspension lower arm LH.

Torque : 210 Nm (2141 kgf-cm, 155 ft-lbf)

NOTICE:
Tighten the nut while making sure that the marks are aligned.

22. INSTALL FRONT WHEEL

Torque : 140 Nm (1428 kgf-cm, 103 ft-lbf)

23. INSPECT AND ADJUST FRONT WHEEL ALIGNMENT

(a) Inspect and adjust the front wheel alignment Front Wheel Alignment.

24. CHECK SUSPENSION CONTROL SYSTEM (w/ Air Suspension)

(a) Check the suspension control system Operation Check.

25. ADJUST HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY

(a) Adjust the headlight assembly Adjustments.
