Heater and Air Conditioning Evaporator and Blower Module Removal and Installation

Removal Procedure

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.

2. Recover the refrigerant system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging (R-1234yf) Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging (R-1234yf)Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging (R-134a) Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging (R-134a).

3. Drain the engine coolant system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static Fill) Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static Fill)Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE 47716) Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE 47716).

4. Remove the heater inlet hose from the heater core tube. Refer to Heater Inlet Hose Replacement (without V4U) Heater Inlet Hose Replacement (without V4U)Heater Inlet Hose Replacement (with V4U) Heater Inlet Hose Replacement (with V4U).

5. Remove the heater outlet hose from the heater core tube. Refer to Heater Outlet Hose Replacement (without V4U) Heater Outlet Hose Replacement (without V4U)Heater Outlet Hose Replacement (with V4U) Heater Outlet Hose Replacement (with V4U).

6. Remove the evaporator hose assembly from the thermal expansion valve. 7. Remove the right side floor rear air outlet duct. Refer to Floor Rear Air Outlet Duct Replacement - Right Side Floor Rear Air Outlet Duct Replacement - Right Side.

8. Remove the left side floor rear air outlet duct. Refer to Floor Rear Air Outlet Duct Replacement - Left Side Floor Rear Air Outlet Duct Replacement - Left Side.

9. Remove the instrument panel tie bar assembly. Refer to Instrument Panel Tie Bar Replacement Instrument Panel Tie Bar Replacement.




10. Remove the Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) module assembly drain tube (1) from the HVAC module assembly.




11. From within the engine compartment, remove the HVAC module assembly bolt, (1) securing the HVAC module assembly to the cowl panel.




12. Remove the HVAC module assembly (1) from the vehicle.

13. Transfer all necessary components.

Installation Procedure




1. Position the HVAC module assembly (1) into the vehicle and temporarily support it.





Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.

2. From within the engine compartment, install the HVAC module assembly bolt (1) securing the HVAC module assembly to the cowl panel, and tighten to 6 Nm (53 lb in).




3. Install the HVAC module assembly drain tube (1) to the HVAC module assembly.

4. Install the instrument panel tie bar assembly. Refer to Instrument Panel Tie Bar Replacement Instrument Panel Tie Bar Replacement.

5. Install the left side floor rear air outlet duct. Refer to Floor Rear Air Outlet Duct Replacement - Left Side Floor Rear Air Outlet Duct Replacement - Left Side.

6. Install the right side floor rear air outlet duct. Refer to Floor Rear Air Outlet Duct Replacement - Right Side Floor Rear Air Outlet Duct Replacement - Right Side.

7. Install the evaporator hose assembly to the thermal expansion valve. Refer to Air Conditioning Evaporator Hose Assembly Replacement (without V4U) Air Conditioning Evaporator Hose Assembly Replacement (without V4U)Air Conditioning Evaporator Hose Assembly Replacement (with V4U) Air Conditioning Evaporator Hose Assembly Replacement (with V4U).

8. Install the heater outlet hose to the heater core tube. Refer to Heater Outlet Hose Replacement (without V4U) Heater Outlet Hose Replacement (without V4U)Heater Outlet Hose Replacement (with V4U) Heater Outlet Hose Replacement (with V4U).

9. Install the heater inlet hose to the heater core tube. Refer to Heater Inlet Hose Replacement (without V4U) Heater Inlet Hose Replacement (without V4U)Heater Inlet Hose Replacement (with V4U) Heater Inlet Hose Replacement (with V4U).

10. Fill the engine coolant system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static Fill) Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static Fill)Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE 47716) Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE 47716).

11. Recharge the refrigerant system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging (R-1234yf) Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging (R-1234yf)Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging (R-134a) Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging (R-134a).

12. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
