Front Three-Point Seat Belt







Front Three-Point Seat Belt

Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components. Refer to => [ Restraint System Components, Safety Precautions and General Information ] Restraint System Components, Safety Precautions and General Information.

Follow all regulations when disposing of pyrotechnic components. Refer to => [ Airbag, Belt Tensioner and Battery Cut-Out Units, Storage, Transporting and Disposal ] Airbag, Belt Tensioner and Battery Cut-Out Units, Storage, Transporting and Disposal.

Removing

- Turn on the ignition.

- Turn on the ignition and disconnect the ground cable from the battery.

- Remove belt anchor from front seat. Refer to => [ Belt Anchor ] Belt Anchor.

- Remove the B-pillar trim. Refer to => [ B-Pillar Trim Overview ] B-Pillar Trim Overview.

- Remove sill panel strip. Refer to => [ Sill Panel Trim Overview ] Service and Repair.

- Thread the belt webbing out of the B-pillar trim.

Vehicle with air duct in B-pillar

- Remove expanding rivets - 1 -.






- Remove air duct - 2 -.

Procedure for all vehicles

- Remove belt guide - 5 -.

- Remove the bolt - 8 -.

- Remove belt relay - 7 - from seat belt height adjuster - 6 -.

- Remove screw - 3 - for belt roller/belt tensioner - 4 -.

Before handling pyrotechnical components (for example, when disconnecting the connector), the person handling them must "discharge static electricity". For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.

- Unlock connector lock with a small screwdriver - 2 -.






- Remove connector - 1 - from belt tensioner - 3 -.

- Remove belt roller/belt tensioner.

Installation

Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components. Refer to => [ Restraint System Components, Safety Precautions and General Information ] Restraint System Components, Safety Precautions and General Information.

- Engage belt roller/belt tensioner hook - 1 - in side panel cut-out - 2 -.

- Install belt roller/belt tensioner screw and tighten it to the specification.

If three-point seat belt is being removed for accident repairs, replace screw.

Before handling pyrotechnical components (for example, when disconnecting the connector), the person handling them must "discharge static electricity". For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.

- Connect the connector - 1 - to the seat belt tensioner - 3 -.






- Lock connector - 1 - with connector lock - 2 -.

Make sure the connectors are installed all the way in and are secure.

Make sure the wires do not get caught.

- Install cover cap - 7 - on seat belt height adjuster - 6 -.






If belt relay is being removed for accident repairs, replace screw - 8 -.

Belt relay - 7 - must swing by itself in carrier direction after tightening screw - 8 -.

- Install belt guide - 5 -. Refer to => [ Front Belt Guide ] Front Belt Guide.

Further installation is performed in reverse sequence of removal, but observe the following:

- Ensure three-point seat belt is not obstructed by wires, insulation, etc.

Ignition must be on when connecting battery. If pyrotechnic components (for example, airbag, belt tensioner) are not repaired correctly, they may deploy unintentionally after connecting battery. Maintain personal safety when connecting the battery by staying out of airbag deployment areas, keeping a distance from belt tensioners/seat belts and ensuring no other people are in the vehicle interior at the moment when the battery is connected.

- Switch on ignition.

- Connect the battery ground cable with the ignition turned on.

- Check belt height adjustment function. Refer to => [ When checking function, following conditions must be fulfilled: ] Front Seat Belt Height Adjuster.

- Check seat belt. Refer to => [ Seat Belts, Inspecting ] Seat Belts, Inspecting.
