Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Torque wrench (V.A.G 1332)
• Vehicle Diagnostic, Testing and Information System (VAS 5051B)
Removing
- Remove the wheel.
- Remove noise insulation.
- Remove subframe. Refer to => [ Subframe ] Subframe.
- Remove the level control system sensor, if applicable. Refer to => [ Level Control System Sensor ] Front Suspension.
- Remove the transverse link and bracket.
• For vehicles with a manual transmission, refer to => [ Transverse Link with Mounting Bracket, Manual Transmission ] Transverse Link With Mounting Bracket, Manual Transmission.
• For vehicles with S-Tronic or an automatic transmission, refer to => [ Left Transverse Link with Mounting Bracket, S-Tronic or Automatic Transmission ] Left Transverse Link With Mounting Bracket, S-Tronic or Automatic Transmission.
- Remove the bolt - 9 - for the right side of the vehicle or the bolt - 18 - for the left side
- Remove the bracket.
Installing
Installation is the reverse of removal, with special attention to the following:
Tightening specifications, refer to => [ Subframe, Diagonal Brace, Ball Joint, Stabilizer Bar, Transverse Link, Bracket and Vehicle Level Sensor Overview ] Subframe, Diagonal Brace, Ball Joint, Stabilizer Bar, Transverse Link, Bracket and Vehicle Level Sensor Overview.
Tightening specifications, refer to => [ Wheel Bearing Housing and Wheel Bearing Unit Overview ] Service and Repair.
- Perform a headlamp basic setting using the (VAS 5051B) if the vehicle has automatic headlamp range control.
- On vehicles with electronically-controlled damping (Audi magnetic ride), reprogram the control position using the (VAS 5051B).
- Axle alignment is required, see Table=> [ An axle alignment is necessary when: ] Wheel Alignment.
- Install the noise insulation.
