Wheel Bearing Housing and Wheel Bearing Unit Overview






1 Suspension Strut

2 Tie Rod End

3 Bolt

• 70 Nm + 90° turn

• Bolt point must face in direction of travel.

• Always replace if removed.

4 Bolt

5 Left Front ABS Wheel Speed Sensor (G47) / Right Front ABS Wheel Speed Sensor (G45)

• Can be tested in "Guided Fault Finding" with the vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system (VAS 5051B).

• Clean the inner surface of the hole and then coat it with adhesive lubricating paste before installing the sensor.

6 Cover Plate

7 Nut

• Applies to all except S3 and RS 3: 20 Nm + 90° turn

• Applies to S3: first tighten to 100 Nm; then loosen 180° and tighten again to 100 Nm

• Applies to RS 3: 110 Nm

• Self-locking

• Always replace if removed.

8 Bolt

9 Vented Inner Brake Disc

10 Bolt

• Always replace if removed.

• There are different versions. Allocation, refer to the Electronic Parts Catalog (ETKA).

• Bolt: 200 Nm + 180° turn, refer to => [ Drive Axle Hex Bolt Connection, Loosening and Tightening ] Description and Operation.

• Twelve-point bolt with ribs: 70 Nm + 90° turn, refer to => [ Drive Axle Twelve-Point Bolt with Ribs, Loosening and Tightening ] Drive Axle Twelve-Point Bolt With Ribs, Loosening and Tightening.

• Twelve-point bolt without ribs: 200 Nm + 180° turn, refer to => [ Drive Axle Twelve-Point Bolt without Ribs, Loosening and Tightening ] Drive Axle Twelve-Point Bolt Without Ribs, Loosening and Tightening.

• Before installing, clean the threads in the CV joint with a tap.

11 Bolt

12 Wheel Hub with Wheel Bearing

• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Wheel Bearing Unit ] Wheel Bearing Unit.

• Sensor ring for ABS is installed in wheel hub.

• There are different versions. Allocation, refer to the Electronic Parts Catalog (ETKA).

13 Wheel Bearing Housing

• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Wheel Bearing Housing ] Wheel Bearing Housing.

• Allocation, refer to the Electronic Parts Catalog (ETKA).

14 Bolt

• 70 Nm + 90° turn

• Always replace if removed.

15 Drive Axle

• Do not let the drive axle hang down. The inner joint could be damaged if it is bent too far.

• Lightly coat the splines on the outer joint with assembly paste before installing the outer joint into the wheel hub. Allocation, refer to the Electronic Parts Catalog (ETKA).

16 Nut

• Self-locking.

• Always replace if removed.

- Lubricate the contact surface in the area that is marked. Grease allocation, refer to the Electronic Parts Catalog (ETKA).

• - X - > 90°
