Symptom Troubleshooting: Interface dial buttons do not work

Interface dial buttons do not work

NOTE:

- Check the vehicle battery condition first.

- Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.

- Check any official Honda service web site for more service information about the navigation system.

- Before troubleshooting, make sure you have anti-theft codes for the navigation system.

- After troubleshooting, enter the anti-theft codes for the navigation system.

1. Start the vehicle.

2. Go into the Detail Information & Settings select Unit Check, and use Hard Key test under Unit Check. Navigation System Diagnostic Mode (With Navigation)

Do the interface dial buttons work properly?
YES - The system is OK at this time.

NO - Go to step 3.


3. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.

4. Connect the HDS to the DLC.

5. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.

6. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

Are there any DTCs present?
YES - Troubleshoot the DTC, then retest.

NO - Go to step 7.


7. Measure the voltage between the interface dial 5P connector terminal No. 4 and body ground.

Is there battery voltage?
YES - Go to step 8.

NO - Repair open in the wire between the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box and the interface dial.






8. Measure the voltage between interface dial 5P connector terminal No. 3 and body ground.

Is there less than 0.2 V?
YES - Go to step 9.

NO - Repair open or high resistance in the wire between the interface dial and body ground (G501). Audio Wire Harness Connector And Harness Locations






9. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.

10. Disconnect audio-navigation unit connector H (28P).

11. Disconnect the interface dial 5P connector.

12. Check for continuity between audio-navigation unit connector H (28P) terminal No. 26 and interface dial 5P connector terminal No. 1.

Is there continuity?
YES - Go to step 13.

NO - There is an open in the wire between the interface dial and the audio-navigation unit. Replace the affected shielded harness.






13. Check for continuity between audio-navigation unit connector H (28P) terminals No. 13 and No. 26.

Is there continuity?
YES - There is a short in the wires between the audio-navigation unit and the interface dial. Replace the affected shielded harness.

NO - Go to step 14.






14. Substitute a known-good interface dial, Service and Repair and recheck.

Is the system OK?
YES - Replace the original interface dial. Service and Repair

NO - Replace the audio-navigation unit. Audio-Navigation Unit Removal/Installation (With Navigation)
