Removal

Removing the center console

S60R (B5254T4 engine)
Remove the center console. See Center console, replacing Center Console, Replacing.

S60 (other engines)
Remove the center console. See Center console, replacing Center Console, Replacing (-2004) or Center console, replacing Center Console, Replacing (2005-).

Removing the gear selector knob
Remove the gear selector knob. See: Gear selector knob, Geartronic, replacing Gear Selector Knob, Geartronic, Replacing.

Removing the top panel from the gear selector assembly
Remove the top panel. See Printed circuit board gear selector assembly/top panel, replacing Printed Circuit Board Gear Selector Assembly/Top Panel, Replacing.

Removing the gear selector assembly stop
Remove the gear selector assembly stop. See: Printed circuit board gear selector assembly/top panel, replacing Printed Circuit Board Gear Selector Assembly/Top Panel, Replacing.
Transfer to the new gear selector assembly.

Removing the gear selector assembly and cables





Remove:
- the catch for the cable at the gear selector lever
- the cable from the end of the gear selector assembly
- the key lock cable. Pry out the locking sleeve slightly and lift up the cable from the gear selector assembly
- the 4 screws for the gear selector assembly.





Transferring the solenoid
Transfer the solenoid.
Remove the mounting bracket. Pull the bracket up out of the gear selector assembly. Disconnect the cable terminals.

Installation

Note! For tightening torques, see applicable specifications.

Installing the cables and the gear selector assembly





Install:
- the gear selector assembly to the bodywork. Tighten to 25 Nm
- the cable to the gear selector. Secure the cable with the catch
- the cable to the end of the gear selector assembly
- the key lock cable to the gear selector assembly. Place the cable in the extracted locking sleeve.

Installing the top panel on the gear selector assembly

Installing the gear selector knob
Install the gear selector knob. See: Gear selector knob, Geartronic, replacing Gear Selector Knob, Geartronic, Replacing.
