Glow Plugs, Engine Coolant Heater, Replacing






Replacing the glow plugs of the engine coolant heater

As the illustrations in this service information are used for different model years and / or models, some variation may occur. However, the essential information is always correct.

Removing the glow plugs for the engine coolant heater





Remove:
- the air baffles
- the bumper cover. See Casing, bumper front, replacing Front Bumper Casing, Replacing (S80), Casing, bumper front, replacing Casing Bumper Front, Replacing (V70),(V70XC)or(S60).
Remove the protective socket.
Unscrew the glow plug.

Installing the glow plug for the engine coolant heater
Tighten the glow plug by hand. Tighten to 15 Nm.
Reconnect the protective socket.
Ensure that the cable is not trapped or too firmly pressed.

Final check

Note! Start the engine and let it idle for a few seconds before starting the heater.

Test run the heater. Check the function of the heater. See Engine coolant heater, test running Component Tests and General Diagnostics.
Check for leakage in the engine coolant hoses or fuel lines.
Check that no diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) have been stored during the repair work.

Install:
- the bumper cover. See Casing, bumper front, replacing Front Bumper Casing, Replacing (S80), Casing, bumper front, replacing Casing Bumper Front, Replacing (V70),(V70XC)or(S60)
- the air baffle.
