Casing, bumper front, replacing

As the illustrations in this service information are used for different model years and / or models, some variation may occur. However, the essential information in the illustrations is always correct.

Preparations
Remove the wiper arms if the car is equipped with headlamp wipers. Service and Repair.

Removing the front bumper casing





Remove:
- left and right trim strip.




- the two screws. Use a 13 mm long socket
- the six clips on the upper side of the casing
- the four clips on the underneath of the bumper.




Slacken off one screw (2) leaving the screw held in place by three threads.
Press in the screw so that the screw head bottoms out and the slide mounting releases.
Separate the connector for the fog lamp.
Repeat on the other side.




Pull the bumper forward while pulling both the sides outwards so that the edges release from the slide mounting.

Hint: This operation is easier with two people.

Transferring components





Cars with fog lamps:
Cut out the embossed cover (1). Cut around the outer marking (2).
First cut a channel partially through the cover around the marking. This will provide a cutting template.
Carefully cut through the rest of the cover.
Remove the cut out cover and trim the edges if necessary.

Hint: Use a hot knife.

Transfer the fog lamps. Fog/Driving Lamp





Transfer:
- the grille. Grille
- the center trim strip
- the license plate holder and the license plate.

Installing the front bumper casing




Align the lugs (3) on the bumper in the channels (4) on the slide mounting. Press at the top so that the lugs secure.
Press in the bumper cover as far as it will go.
Install the two screws

Hint: This operation is easier with two people.




Tighten the two screws for the slide mountings. Ensure that the slide mountings engage the bumper cover.

Install:
- the six clips on the top of the casing
- the connectors for the fog lamps
- the four clips on the underneath of the bumper
- left and right trim strip.
Install the wiper arms if the car is equipped with headlamp wipers. Service and Repair.
