Front Bumper: Service and Repair






Bumper front, replacing

Note! As the illustrations in this service information are used for different model years and / or models, some variation may occur. However, the essential information in the illustrations is always correct.

Removal

Removing the front bumper





Remove:
- the 2 covers
- the 2 clips (2) on the underneath of the bumper casing
- the 2 screws.

Hint: Use butyl tape to secure the screws. Otherwise the screws are easy to lose.

Remove the 6 clips at the top edge of the bumper cover.




Slacken off the screw (3), 1 on each side, until the slide mounting releases from the bumper cover.

Hint: Press the screw so that the screw head bottoms out.




Pull the bumper forward while pulling both the sides outwards so that the edges release from the slide mounting.

Hint: This operation is easier with two people.

Remove:
- the 2 connectors for the fog lamps
- the quick-release connector for the hose for the headlamp washer.

Transferring components

Transferring the rear section





Remove:
- the clips, 2 on each side.




- the 5 x rivets.
Unhook the rear section.

Transferring the fog lamps
Transfer the fog lamps. See: Fog lamps, front, replacing Fog Lamps, Front, Replacing.

Transferring the nozzles for the high-pressure washers
Transfer the nozzles for the high pressure washers. See: Nozzle high-pressure washer headlamp, replacing Service and Repair.

Transferring the front protective panel
Removal

Note! The rear section must be removed before the protective panel can be replaced.

Release the 10 hooks.
Remove the protective panel.




Installation

Note! Use an installation tool and rivets with spacers. See VIDA Replacement Parts Information.




Hook the protective panel on to the casing.

Install:
- the rear section
- 5 rivets.

Transfer
- the radiator grille. See: Radiator grille, replacing Service and Repair
- the license plate holder and the license plate. It is secured using 4 screws
- the cover for the towing eyelet.

Transferring the side bracket

Remove:
- the rivets, 4 per bracket.
- the screws, 5 per bracket.

Installation

Installing the front bumper

Note! For tightening torques, see applicable specifications.

Install:
- the 2 connectors for the fog lamps
- the quick-release connector for the hose for the headlamp washer
- the bumper cover.

Note! Ensure that the bumper cover is correctly positioned on the slide mountings on the sides.

Install:
- the 6 clips at the top edge of the bumper cover
- the 2 screws. Tighten
- the 2 covers
- the 2 clips on the underside of the bumper cover.
Tighten the 2 screws for the sliding mounts.
