Front safety belt retractor

Preparatory work

Adjusting seat and disconnecting battery cable




Slide the seat forward as far as possible.
Ignition off.
Disconnect the battery negative cable. See: Battery Disconnecting

Warning! For information about the handling and storage of pyrotechnical SRS units, see: Handling non-deployed pyrotechnical part Handling Non-Deployed Pyrotechnical Part

Warning! Never measure with an ohmmeter or other live measuring instrument on a disconnected, non-deployed pyrotechnical SRS unit. There is a risk that it deploys.

Warning! A pyrotechnical SRS unit must never be dismantled, repaired or moved to another vehicle.

Removal

Removing front seat belts





Remove:
- the B-post panel. See: B-pillar trim panel B-Pillar Trim Panel
- the connector for the ignition cable (1).
Slacken off the screw for the pipe clamp for the pyrotechnic pipe (2).

Remove:
- the 2 screws (3) for the seat belt (inertia) reel
- the front seat's side panel, see: Side panel front seat Side Panel Front Seat.
Insert a screwdriver on the inside of the end mounting. Remove the seat belt by pressing the catch inwards and pulling upwards.
Lift the seat belt (inertia) reel out of the pipe clamp.

Installation

Installing front seat belts
Lift the seat belt (inertia) reel together with the pyrotechnic pipe into the pipe clamp.

Install:
- the seat belt
- the side panel as described in Side panel front seat Side Panel Front Seat
- the screws, 2 pcs. M10 for the belt roller (retractor). Tighten, see: Tightening torque [1][2]Body and Frame
- the screw for the pipe clamp for the pyrotechnic pipe. Tighten
- the connector for the ignition cable
- the B-post panel. See: B-pillar trim panel B-Pillar Trim Panel.

Finishing

Checking the function
Check the function of the belt as described in Seat belt function, check Testing and Inspection.
Carry out an inspection as described in Supplementary restraint system (SRS), inspection Component Tests and General Diagnostics.
