High Pressure Fuel Pump






High Pressure Fuel Pump

Removing

- Remove the upper intake manifold. Refer to => [ Upper Intake Manifold ] Upper Intake Manifold.

- Remove the high pressure pump toothed belt. Refer to => [ High Pressure Fuel Pump Toothed Belt ] High Pressure Fuel Pump Toothed Belt.

- Remove the bolts - arrows - and the high pressure line protective plate.






- Loosen the union nuts - 1 through 4 - and free up the high pressure lines.

- Disconnect the connector - 3 -.

- Remove the fuel supply hose - 1 - and return hose - 2 -.

- Remove the bolts - arrows - and remove the high pressure pump.






Follow the guidelines for a clean working environment when working on the fuel system. Refer to => [ Clean Working Conditions and Fuel System Work Instructions ] Clean Working Conditions and Fuel System Work Instructions.

Always follow these rules before and during work.

Installing

Tightening specifications, refer to => [ High Pressure Pump Overview ] High Pressure Pump Overview.

Install in the reverse order of removal. Note the following:

If the fuel pressure regulator valve or the high pressure pump has been replaced, then the adaptation values for the regulator valve must be reset. Refer to the vehicle diagnostic tester: Guided Functions, resetting the adaptation values for the fuel pressure regulator valve.

Letting the high pressure pump run dry will destroy it.

The high pressure pump must be filled with fuel before starting the engine for the first time.

Replace the gaskets and seals.

The fuel return line must not be bent, damaged or plugged.

- Install the high pressure pump toothed belt. Refer to => [ High Pressure Fuel Pump Toothed Belt ] High Pressure Fuel Pump Toothed Belt.

- Install the high pressure lines. Refer to => [ High Pressure Lines, Installing ] Service and Repair.

- Install the upper intake manifold. Refer to => [ Upper Intake Manifold ] Upper Intake Manifold.

- Bleed the fuel system. Refer to => [ Fuel System, Bleeding and First Time Filling ] Fuel System, Bleeding and First Time Filling.
