Reducing Agent (AdBlue(R)) Tank
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Engine-/Gearbox Jack (V.A.G 1383 A)
• Pry Lever - Rmv Outside Mirror (80 - 200)
• The "NOx reducing agent AUS 32" (AdBlue(R)) is simply called reducing agent in the following information.
• The reducing agent tank is found in the right rear.
• The reducing agent can irritate skin, eyes and the respiratory system.
• If the fluid comes into contact with skin, rinse the affected area immediately with plenty of water.
• If necessary, consult a physician.
Removing
- Drain the reducing agent tank. Refer to => [ Reducing Agent (AdBlue(R)) Tank, Draining ] Procedures.
- Remove the rear bumper cover.
Protect the connectors, for example with a plastic bag or cable ties, before them become coated with reducing agent. The connectors could be damaged because the reducing agent has a tendency to seep and it crystallizes.
Make sure the reducing agent does not come into contact with clothing or the vehicle body.
If this occurs, wash immediately with clean water and then dry with a lint-free cotton cloth.
If the reducing agent has already crystallized, use warm water and a sponge.
Reducing agent that is not removed will crystallize and can damage the affected surface.
- Unlatch and disconnect the connectors - 2 and 3 -.
- In order to perform the following, disconnect the delivery line - 1 -.
- Press the wire connection circlip - 1 - together in the - direction of the arrow 1 - as shown and disconnect the delivery line in the - direction of the arrow 2 - without using special tools and without pulling too sharply.
- Unclip the wires from the mount.
Seal openings on the line and the connections immediately with plugs to prevent contaminants from entering. Even tiny particles can cause serious damage to the system.
Protect the connectors, for example with a plastic bag or cable ties, before coating with reducing agent. The connectors could be damaged because the reducing agent has a tendency to seep and it crystallizes.
- Unclip the wires on the vehicle body using the pry lever - rmv outside mirror (80-200).
- Position the engine-/gearbox jack (V.A.G 1383 A) under the reducing agent tank and support the reducing agent tank.
- Loosen the filler tube seal - 1 - in the wheel housing from the body opening.
- Loosen the reducing agent tank - 1 - bolts - arrows -.
- Carefully lower the reducing agent tank while taking into consideration the filler tube.
- Remove the reducing agent tank and noise insulation upper section.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal. When doing this note the following:
• Make sure all of the components on the reducing agent tank are secure, the insulation upper section is positioned correctly and none of the lines are pinched.
- Carefully raise the reducing agent tank using the engine-/gearbox jack (V.A.G 1383 A) until it is possible to install the bolts.
- Engage the wires and connector and clip them into the mounts.
- Install the rear bumper cover.
- Fill the reducing agent tank. Refer to Maintenance Procedures.
