Reducing Agent (AdBlue(R)) Tank, Draining

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

AdBlue/Urea/Recovery Box (VAS 6557)

Evacuating

The "NOx reducing agent AUS 32" (AdBlue(R)) is simply called reducing agent in the following information.

The reducing agent can irritate skin, eyes and the respiratory system.

If the fluid comes into contact with skin, rinse the affected area immediately with plenty of water.

If necessary, consult a physician.

The reducing agent tank is drained through the filler neck.

Make sure the reducing agent does not come into contact with clothing or the vehicle body.

If this occurs, wash immediately with clean water and then dry with a lint free cotton cloth.

If the reducing agent has already crystallized, use warm water and a sponge.

Reducing agent that is not removed will crystallize and can damage the affected surface.

The reducing agent tank filler opening is located in the luggage compartment on the right side behind a cover.

- Release and remove the cover - 1 -.

- Open the reducing agent tank cap - 2 -.

Prepare the AdBlue/Urea/Recovery Box (VAS 6557) as Follows

- Close the shut off valves - A, B and C -.

- Connect the coupling - D - to the connection for shut off valve - A - and fill the compressed air hose with compressed air.

- Open the shut off valve - A -.

This creates a vacuum in the AdBlue/urea/recovery box (VAS 6557).

- Close the shut off valve - A - as soon as the pressure gauge indicates a vacuum of 0.8 bar.

- Disconnect the coupling - D - from the connection for shut off valve - A - and stop the flow of compressed air to the compressed air hose.

- Insert the hose - E - into the filler neck, all the way to the bottom of the reducing agent tank. Open the shut off valve - B -.

The vacuum in the AdBlue/urea/recovery box (VAS 6557) extracts the reducing agent from the tank. The AdBlue/urea/recovery box (VAS 6557) holds 11 liters. When this quantity is drained, it is possible to remove the reducing agent tank. Repeat the procedure if the reducing agent tank contains more reducing agent than that and it must be drained completely.

- To empty the AdBlue/urea/recovery box (VAS 6557) , hold the connection for the shut off valve - C - over a suitable container and open the shut off valves - A and C -.

Do not reuse the extracted reducing agent.

- Flush the AdBlue/urea/recovery box (VAS 6557) thoroughly with water after completing the procedure.
