Left Flange Shaft and Seal

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Slide Hammer-Complete Set (VW 771)

Additional Part for VW 771 (VW 771/37)

Thrust Piece (3305)

Torque Wrench 5-50 Nm (V.A.G 1331)

Torque Wrench 40-200 Nm (V.A.G 1332)

Sealing Grease (G 052 128 A1)

Removing

- Remove the left wheel.

- Remove the noise insulation.

- Remove the lower section of the left front wheel housing liner..

- Remove left drive axle.

- Place a drip tray under the transmission.

- Remove the bolts for the flange shaft, by installing two bolts into the flange and counter-holding flange shaft using a pry bar.






- Remove the flange shaft and the pressure spring.

- Remove the flange shaft seal using (VW 771) and (VW 771/37).






Installing

- Install the seal all the way in without tilting it.






- Fill the space between the sealing and dust lip half way with sealing grease (G 052 128 A1).

- Install the flange shaft.

- Install the flange shaft with a bolt and tighten to tightening specification.

- Remove the left drive axle.

- Install the lower section of the left front wheel housing liner..

- Install the wheel.

- Check transmission fluid level inside the manual transmission. Refer to => [ Transmission Fluid, Checking ] Service and Repair.

- Attach the noise insulation.
