Right Flange Shaft, AWD

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Used Oil Collecting and Extracting Device (V.A.G 1782)

Puller (T10037)

Socket and Extended Bit (T10107)

Removing






- Remove the right drive axle.

- Remove the right drive axle heat shield bolts - arrows - and shield from the bevel box.

- Place the used oil collecting and extracting device (V.A.G 1782) under the transmission.






- Remove right flange shaft countersunk bolt using the socket and extended bit (T10107) by installing 2 screws in the flange and counter hold the flange shaft with a pry bar.

- Remove the flange shaft using the puller (T10037).






Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. Pay attention to the following:

Replace the flange shaft countersunk bolt.

- Remove the seal - A - from the groove - arrow - and replace it.






- Carefully install the flange shaft while rotating it at the same time.

- Secure the flange shaft with new countersunk bolt, tightening specification. Refer to => [ Flange Shaft and Bevel Box Seals Overview ] Description and Operation.

- Install the right drive axle.

- Check the oil level in the bevel box and fill, as necessary. Refer to => [ Bevel Box Gear Oil Level, Checking and Filling ] Procedures.
