Right Flange Shaft Seal
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Puller (T10037)
• Thrust Piece (T10049)
• Torque Wrench (5-50 Nm) (V.A.G 1331)
• Torque Wrench (40-200 Nm) (V.A.G 1332)
• Hex Extension (V.A.G 1669) or Socket and Extended Bit (T10107)
Removing
• The transmission is installed.
Follow these instructions exactly to avoid damaging flange shaft needle bearing.
- Remove the drive axle.
- Place a drip tray under the transmission.
- Remove the right flange shaft bolt using the hex extension (V.A.G 1669) or the socket and extended bit (T10107).
- Install the puller (T10037) on the right flange shaft.
- Align the puller with the knurled nut (T10037/1) and the lower support - A - parallel to the flange.
- Remove the flange shaft.
- Pry out the seal.
Installing
- Fill the space between the sealing and dust lip half way with sealing grease for seal (G 052 128 A1).
- Install the seal until seated using the thrust piece (T10049).
- Install the flange shaft while rotating it carefully!
- Fasten the flange shaft with the countersunk bolt and tighten it to 30 Nm.
- Install the drive axle.
- Attach the drive axle heat shield to the bevel box.
- Check the oil level in the bevel box. Refer to => [ Bevel Box Gear Oil Level, Checking and Filling ] Procedures.
- Install the noise insulation, if equipped.
