Windshield Wiper Motor (V)
Removal
- Remove the wiper frame with the linkage and windshield wiper motor. Refer to => [ Wiper Frame with Linkage and Windshield Wiper Motor (V) Removal ] Wiper Frame with Linkage and Windshield Wiper Motor (V) Removal.
- Remove hex nut - 1 -.
- Remove crank - 2 - from wiper motor shaft.
- Remove the three screws - arrows -.
- Remove the windshield wiper motor - 1 - from the wiper frame.
• If Wiper motor control module (J400) or Windshield Wiper Motor is replaced, Wiper motor control module must be coded. Refer to => [ Wiper Motor Control Module (J400), Coding ] Testing and Inspection.
Installation
- Deactivate alternating park position (APP function), refer to => [ Wiper Motor Alternating Park Position Function, Deactivating ] Testing and Inspection.
- Insert windshield wiper motor into wiper frame and secure it with mounting bolts - arrows -.
- Tighten the threaded connections to the specification given in the overview. Refer to => [ Windshield Wiper System Overview ] Windshield Wiper System Overview.
- Let windshield wiper motor (V) run to rest position.
• The hood ( Front hood switch (F266) ) must be closed in order to use the windshield wipers.
- Mount the crank - 2 - on the windshield wiper motor shaft; the distance - A - between the crank - 2 - and the right edge of the stop - 3 - must be 3.5 mm.
- Thread on crank - 2 - with hex nut - 1 -.
- Tighten the hex nut - 1 - to the specification given in the overview. Refer to => [ Windshield Wiper System Overview ] Windshield Wiper System Overview.
• When connecting battery, always perform work procedure as described in repair information. Refer to => [ Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Service and Repair. Not adhering to sequence will result in the deactivation of Main Battery Switch -E74- and subsequent damage to electrical system components.
• Observe notes for threaded connections of battery terminals. Refer to => [ Battery Post/Terminal ] Battery Post/Terminal.
- Connect battery. Refer to => [ Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Service and Repair.
• If Wiper Motor Control Module (J400) or Windshield Wiper Motor is replaced, Wiper Motor Control Module must be coded. Refer to => [ Wiper Motor Control Module (J400), Coding ] Testing and Inspection.
